Job Summary

The X-Ray Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic procedures safely and accurately, ensuring proper patient preparation and positioning, maintaining image quality, following radiation-safety protocols, and supporting the smooth functioning of the radiology services.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform X-ray and radiographic examinations as prescribed by the doctor.
- Verify patient identity, clinical details, and investigation requests before the procedure.
- Explain the procedure clearly to patients and provide appropriate reassurance and assistance.
- Position patients correctly to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Operate X-ray equipment safely and efficiently according to approved protocols.
- Follow all radiation protection and safety guidelines for patients, staff, and self.
- Ensure appropriate use of radiation-protection equipment such as lead aprons and shields.
- Review images for positioning and technical quality and repeat images only when clinically necessary.
- Maintain patient records, imaging registers, exposure records, and other required documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow clinic policies.
- Keep the X-ray room, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and ready for use.
- Perform routine equipment checks and promptly report equipment faults or maintenance requirements.
- Coordinate with doctors, radiologists, nurses, reception, billing, and other clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Ensure timely completion and proper documentation of investigations.
- Follow infection-control practices and maintain a secure clinical environment.
- Assist with other radiology-related procedures or duties as assigned by the doctor or management.




- Comply with applicable regulatory requirements, including radiation-safety and clinic protocols.

Qualifications

- Diploma in Radiology / Radiography / Medical Imaging Technology or
- B.Sc. in Radiology / Radiologic Technology / Medical Imaging Technology.
- Valid professional registration/certification as applicable.
- Knowledge of X-ray equipment, radiographic techniques, radiation safety, and patient positioning.

Recent Apollo-related postings commonly list Diploma/B.Sc. radiology qualifications and experience in operating X-ray equipment.

Experience

- 1–2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Freshers with appropriate qualification and practical training may also be considered, depending on clinic requirements.

Required Skills

- Good knowledge of radiographic procedures and positioning techniques.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety.
- Good patient-handling and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to image quality.
- Ability to work effectively with doctors and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Basic computer knowledge, including patient documentation and radiology systems/PACS.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy outpatient/diagnostic environment.
- Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused approach.

Performance Expectations

The technician is expected to maintain patient safety, diagnostic image quality, accurate documentation, equipment care, confidentiality, and excellent patient service while supporting efficient clinic operations.

Additional Advantage

- Experience with digital radiography/CR/DR systems.
- Knowledge of PACS/RIS.
- Experience assisting with ultrasound or other diagnostic procedures.
- Knowledge of relevant radiation-safety and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in a hospital, diagnostic centre, or multispecialty clinic.
