Job Purpose
The Day Care Center Head will be responsible for the overall management and smooth functioning of the daycare center. The role involves ensuring high standards of child care, safety, hygiene, parent satisfaction, staff performance, and operational efficiency while supporting admissions and center growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Center Operations
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the daycare center.
- Ensure all routines, schedules, activities, meals, nap times and child-care processes are followed properly.
- Maintain a safe, clean, hygienic and child-friendly environment.
- Ensure proper attendance, documentation and daily records.
- Coordinate maintenance, housekeeping, supplies and inventory.
2. Child Safety & Well-being
- Ensure the safety, security and emotional well-being of every child.
- Monitor staff-to-child supervision and ensure children are never left unattended.
- Implement health, hygiene, emergency and child-protection procedures.
- Ensure incidents/accidents are recorded and communicated as per center policy.
- Monitor nutrition, meals, rest and age-appropriate activities.
3. Staff Management
- Lead, supervise and motivate teachers, caregivers and support staff.
- Prepare staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage.
- Monitor attendance, discipline and performance.
- Conduct regular team meetings and provide feedback/coaching.
- Identify training requirements and support staff development.
4. Parent Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for parents.
- Maintain regular and professional communication with families.
- Address parent concerns and resolve issues promptly.
- Share updates regarding children's activities, routines and well-being.
- Build strong relationships that support parent satisfaction and retention.
5. Admissions & Center Growth
- Handle parent enquiries, walk-ins and center tours.
- Explain daycare programs, facilities, policies and fee structures.
- Follow up on leads and support admission conversions.
- Support retention and referral initiatives.
- Work with management to achieve enrollment and revenue targets.
6. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable childcare, health and safety requirements.
- Conduct regular checks of classrooms, play areas, equipment and facilities.
- Maintain required records and reports.
- Ensure consistent standards of childcare and service quality.
7. Administration & Reporting
- Maintain records relating to children, staff, attendance, incidents and inventory.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly operational reports.
- Monitor expenses and ensure effective use of center resources.
- Coordinate with management on staffing, operations, parent feedback and center performance.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate degree preferred; qualification in Early Childhood Education/Child Development is an advantage.
- 3–5 years of experience in daycare, preschool, childcare, education or a similar environment.
- Prior team-management or supervisory experience preferred.
- Good knowledge of child development and childcare practices.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office, email and digital reporting.
