JOB SUMMARY
The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment at construction sites by implementing safety policies, monitoring compliance, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture. The role involves proactive hazard identification, training, and ensuring adherence to statutory and company safety standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Safety Policy Implementation
- Implement and enforce company HSE policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and labour laws
- Develop site-specific safety plans and procedures
2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and risk assessments
- Identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation measures
- Monitor high-risk activities such as working at height, lifting, and excavation
3. Site Safety Monitoring
- Carry out daily site inspections and safety audits
- Ensure proper housekeeping, barricading, and signage
- Identify unsafe acts/conditions and initiate corrective actions
4. PPE Management
- Ensure availability and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Conduct regular PPE inspections and maintain records
5. Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction for all new workers and staff
- Deliver toolbox talks and ongoing safety training
- Promote safety awareness and best practices
6. Permit to Work (PTW) System
- Implement and monitor permit systems for critical activities
- Ensure permits are properly issued, followed, and closed
7. Incident Management
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective measures
- Maintain incident records and reports
8. Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and implement emergency response plans
- Conduct mock drills (fire, medical, evacuation)
- Ensure availability of emergency equipment
9. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain safety registers, inspection logs, and training records
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports
- Assist in internal and external safety audits
10. Coordination
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors
- Ensure safety integration into project planning and execution
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma / Degree in Engineering (preferred)
- Diploma in Industrial Safety / NEBOSH / IOSH (mandatory/preferred)
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in construction safety
- Experience in industrial / infrastructure projects preferred
KEY SKILLS
- Robust knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations
- Good communication and training skills
- Observation and reporting ability
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Site-based role involving outdoor work
- May require extended working hours depending on project needs

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
