Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and agile Senior HR Manager with a minimum of 10 years of HR experience, preferably within the retail industry, to lead and drive HR initiatives across a fast-paced, multi-location retail environment.

The role will act as a strategic HR Business Partner to the Retail Leadership and Operations teams, ensuring effective workforce planning, talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, employee relations, HR operations, statutory compliance, and talent development.

The ideal candidate should have strong exposure to store-level HR operations, frontline workforce management, high-volume recruitment, employee retention, HR analytics, and multi-location people management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic HR Business Partnering

- Partner with the Retail Head, Regional/Zonal Heads, and Store Leadership on people-related matters.
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with retail business objectives.
- Provide HR insights and recommendations to support business growth and operational efficiency.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders on employee and organizational matters.
- Drive HR initiatives across multiple stores/locations and ensure consistent implementation of HR practices.

2. Workforce Planning & Talent Acquisition

- Lead manpower planning based on business requirements, store expansion, seasonal requirements, and attrition trends.
- Drive high-volume recruitment for frontline, store, sales, supervisory, and managerial positions.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition teams to ensure timely closure of critical positions.
- Monitor recruitment metrics such as time-to-hire, cost-per-hire, quality of hire, and offer-to-joining ratio.
- Develop effective talent pipelines for key retail positions.
- Support new store openings and workforce ramp-up requirements.

3. Employee Engagement & Retention

- Design and implement employee engagement initiatives across stores and locations.
- Monitor employee satisfaction, engagement, and retention trends.
- Develop strategies to control frontline and store-level attrition.
- Conduct employee connects, skip-level interactions, and store visits to understand employee concerns.
- Drive recognition and rewards initiatives to improve employee motivation and retention.

4. Employee Relations

- Act as the key HR point of contact for employee grievances and workplace concerns.
- Handle disciplinary matters, investigations, conflict resolution, and grievance redressal in line with company policies.




- Partner with business managers to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures across locations.
- Support employee relations matters arising from store and field operations.

5. Performance & Talent Management

- Lead and monitor the annual performance management process across the retail workforce.
- Partner with business leaders on goal setting, performance reviews, ratings, and performance improvement plans.
- Identify high-potential employees and support succession planning.
- Develop career progression frameworks for store and retail employees.
- Drive talent review and internal mobility initiatives.

6. Learning & Development

- Identify capability gaps across store and regional teams.
- Partner with L&D; teams to develop training interventions for store managers, sales teams, and frontline employees.
- Drive leadership development and manager capability-building programs.
- Monitor training effectiveness and business impact of learning interventions.

7. HR Operations & Compliance

- Oversee end-to-end HR operations across the assigned retail locations.
- Ensure accurate employee records, onboarding, confirmation, transfers, promotions, exits, and other employee lifecycle processes.
- Coordinate payroll inputs related to attendance, leave, incentives, overtime, and other employee-related components.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders for PF, ESI, PT, gratuity, bonus, POSH, Shops & Establishments, and other applicable compliances.
- Support internal and statutory audits and ensure timely closure of compliance gaps.

8. HR Analytics & MIS

- Develop and monitor HR dashboards and periodic MIS reports.
- Track key retail HR metrics including:
- Attrition and retention
- Headcount and manpower productivity
- Recruitment and hiring TAT
- Absenteeism
- Employee engagement
- Performance
- Training effectiveness
- Provide actionable insights to leadership based on HR data and trends.

9. HR Policies & Process Excellence

- Implement HR policies and ensure consistent adoption across retail locations.




- Review HR processes and identify opportunities for automation and improvement.
- Drive HRMS adoption and maintain accuracy of employee data.
- Develop and implement HR SOPs for retail operations.
- Support HR transformation and digital HR initiatives.

10. Team Management & Stakeholder Management

- Lead and mentor the HR team supporting retail operations.
- Build strong relationships with Retail, Operations, Finance, Payroll, Legal, Admin, and Business Leadership teams.
- Manage external HR consultants, recruitment agencies, training partners, and other vendors.
- Influence stakeholders and drive HR initiatives effectively across different levels of the organization.

- Successful implementation of HR policies, processes, and HRMS initiatives.

Qualification

- MBA / PGDM in Human Resources, Personnel Management, or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 10 years of overall HR experience.
- Prior experience in the retail industry is mandatory/preferred.
- Experience handling multi-location / store-based / frontline workforce will be strongly preferred.
