Design Engineer – Mechanical

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Design Engineer – Mechanical to lead
the design and engineering of pressure vessels and related equipment. The ideal candidate will be
responsible for performing design calculations, preparing design deliverables, ensuring
compliance with ASME codes, and coordinating with drafting, fabrication, and project teams.
The role requires hands-on expertise in PV Elite, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to
independently handle complete design responsibility for industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Pressure Vessel Design & Engineering: Design pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and associated mechanical equipment using PV
Elite software. Perform detailed design calculations as per ASME Code and relevant international
codes. Prepare and review design reports, calculation notes, and technical specifications. Select suitable materials based on design conditions, codes, and client requirements.
Design Review & Drawing Coordination: Provide design inputs, sketches, and technical guidance to drafting teams for preparation
of GA, fabrication, and detail drawings. Review and approve mechanical drawings for compliance with design calculations,
codes, and specifications. Ensure alignment between design calculations, drawings, BOMs, and technical
documents.
Codes, Standards & Compliance: Ensure designs comply with ASME, ISO, DIN, TEMA, and other applicable standards. Address statutory and third-party inspection requirements (TPI, client, consultant). Support audits, design reviews, and technical clarifications with clients and inspectors.




Project Coordination & Technical Support: Coordinate with project managers, procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams
throughout the project lifecycle. Provide technical clarification to fabrication, assembly, testing, and site teams. Resolve design-related issues during manufacturing and testing stages.
Documentation & Engineering Control: Maintain proper engineering documentation, revision control, and design records. Review vendor drawings and technical documents when required. Support preparation of as-built documentation.
Continuous Improvement & Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and weight optimization. Proactively suggest value-engineering and standardization initiatives. Mentor junior engineers and support skill development within the design team.
Qualifications:
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience: Minimum 5 - 7 years of experience in mechanical design of pressure vessels. Proven hands-on experience using P V Elite software. Experience in industrial equipment, process plants, oil & gas or chemical ect.
Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of ASME Pressure Vessel Code and pressure equipment design
principles. Proficiency in PV Elite (mandatory); familiarity with AutoCAD and 3D tools is an
advantage. Good understanding of fabrication practices, welding requirements, NDT, and inspection
stages. Ability to interpret P&IDs;, datasheets, client specifications, and engineering standards. Good working knowledge of MS Office and engineering documentation systems.
Desired Attributes: Solid analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently with high ownership of design deliverables.
