MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
• 10–15+ years of experience in Engineering / Engineering Facultative Reinsurance underwriting.
• Strong experience handling large and complex Engineering risks.
• Hands-on expertise in risk assessment, pricing, terms & conditions and underwriting decisions.
• Strong broker/cedant relationships with experience in negotiating facultative placements.

ABOUT THE CLIENT
A leading South African insurance and reinsurance group with a strong international presence. The company is expanding its reinsurance operations in India through GIFT City, Gandhinagar, and is building a senior underwriting team to support growth across the Indian and international markets.

JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Underwrite complex Engineering Facultative Reinsurance risks in line with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
• Assess large and complex risks across CAR, EAR, Machinery Breakdown, Boiler & Pressure Plant and other Engineering classes.
• Analyse risk inspection reports, project details, loss history, exposure data and policy wordings.
• Handle risk assessment, pricing, capacity, terms, conditions and structuring of facultative solutions.




• Negotiate with brokers, cedants and reinsurance intermediaries on pricing and coverage.
• Monitor portfolio performance, profitability, exposure and accumulation.
• Develop quality business opportunities and contribute to portfolio growth and underwriting strategy.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, cedants and market participants.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or related discipline) preferred; Commerce, Finance or Insurance graduates may also be considered.
• 10–15+ years of experience in Engineering Insurance / Engineering Facultative Reinsurance underwriting.
• Strong experience in underwriting large and complex Engineering risks.
• FIII, ACII, CPCU or equivalent insurance qualifications would be an advantage.

Reporting To: Director
Industry Target: Reinsurance companies / Global reinsurers / International insurers / Lloyd’s market with solid exposure to Property Facultative Reinsurance.
Work Model Arrangement: Onsite
