The PYP Homeroom Teacher is responsible for creating a protected, engaging, and inquiry-driven learning environment that nurtures the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of students. The role involves planning and delivering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum, fostering international-mindedness, and building strong partnerships with parents and colleagues to ensure holistic student growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the PYP Homeroom Teacher include, but are not limited to:
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging inquiry-based lessons aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme framework.
- Develop interdisciplinary Units of Inquiry that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and conceptual understanding.
- Create a stimulating, inclusive, and student-centred classroom environment.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Foster student agency by encouraging choice, voice, and ownership of learning.
- Integrate technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning experiences.




- Promote the IB Learner Profile attributes and Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills across all learning engagements.

Student Development & Well-being
- Monitor and support students' academic, emotional, social, and behavioural development.
- Establish positive relationships with students to promote confidence, independence, and resilience.
- Encourage positive behaviour by implementing the school's behaviour management and safeguarding policies.
- Identify students requiring additional support and collaborate with learning support and counselling teams where required.

Assessment & Reporting
- Assess student learning using formative and summative assessment strategies.
- Maintain accurate academic records and portfolios of student work.
- Prepare student progress reports in accordance with school and IB guidelines.
- Use assessment data to inform planning and improve student learning outcomes.
