About Us
We are building Naad, a modern platform for learning Indian music. Our mission is to make it easy for musicians to search any song and instantly access accurate notation, raag, taal, scale, and practice tools.
We are looking for someone passionate about Indian music who can help build one of the largest verified collections of Indian music notation.
Responsibilities:
You will:
- Listen to Indian songs and accurately write Sargam notation.
- Identify the correct raag (when applicable).
- Identify the taal.
- Determine the scale/key.
- Estimate tempo (BPM).
- Organize songs into categories.
- Review and improve existing notation.
- Verify accuracy before publication.
- Research song metadata including composer, singer, and language.
Initially, the work will focus on:
- Sikh Kirtan
- Gurbani Shabads
- Bhajans
Later expanding to:
- Bollywood
- Ghazals
- Folk Music
- Hindustani Classical
- Carnatic Music
Required Skills:
You should have:
- Robust knowledge of Indian classical music.
- Excellent understanding of Sargam notation.
- Ability to identify raags and taals by ear.
- Experience playing at least one instrument such as Harmonium, Keyboard, or Vocal.
- Robust listening skills.
- Good written English.
Nice to Have
- Experience teaching harmonium or vocal music.
- Knowledge of Sikh Kirtan.
- Familiarity with Hindustani classical music.
- Experience using notation software.
- Music degree or formal training.
