About the role

This role owns the data architecture of the smart factory: the plant data model and its standards, the pipelines from the plant database to the cloud system of record, and the analytical tables behind OEE, traceability and production reporting. It works closely with the application engineer and the product lead.

Key responsibilities
- Define and maintain the plant data model (plant, line, machine, sub-component) and its naming standards.
- Design, build and operate data pipelines from the plant database to AWS, including validation and monitoring.
- Design and maintain the analytical tables supporting OEE, product traceability and production reporting.
- Improve existing schemas: standardise identifiers, resolve structural gaps, and manage schema changes across stations.
- Establish data quality checks and maintain documentation of the data model and pipelines.

Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.




- 3 to 6 years of qualified experience in data engineering or a closely related role.
- Strong SQL, including schema design and query optimisation.
- Proficiency in Python for data processing.
- Experience building and operating ETL or data pipelines in production.
- Experience with at least one cloud platform; AWS preferred.
- Data warehousing experience: Snowflake, BigQuery or AWS Redshift.
- Familiarity with the data lake concept and when it is the right choice.

Preferred qualifications
- PostgreSQL and AWS RDS.
- Workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow or dbt.
- Familiarity with unstructured data: blob storage, caching and NoSQL.
- Experience with Databricks.
- Time-series or telemetry data experience.
- Exposure to manufacturing data: OEE, traceability, machine or sensor data.
- BI and reporting tools.

Prior manufacturing experience is a plus, not a requirement.
