Job Overview

We are looking for a Principal Engineer – Roku / BrightScript with solid hands-on experience in Roku/BrightScript development, SceneGraph architecture, Performance Engineering, and technical leadership.

The role will be part of a client platform engineering team working on production OTT/streaming applications and will involve architecture, development, performance optimization, and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of production Roku/BrightScript applications.
- Design scalable SceneGraph architecture, application routing, deep-linking, and task/threading models.
- Own architecture decisions and provide technical direction for multi-engineer client application development.
- Drive performance engineering and optimization on constrained Roku devices, including memory footprint, rendering performance, application launch time, frame rate, node recycling, and garbage collection.




- Develop and review SceneGraph components, ensuring correct use of field observers, node creation patterns, focus chain, and component lifecycle.
- Work on media playback, player state machines, DRM integration, and OTT/streaming functionality.
- Define coding standards, conduct technical reviews, and provide architecture sign-off.
- Contribute to CI/CD, BrightScript-specific linting, static analysis, and performance benchmarking.
- Evaluate and implement Roku automation frameworks for deep-link automation, SceneGraph inspection, and performance testing.
- Translate existing/reference implementations into production BrightScript applications while maintaining behavioral fidelity.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a multi-engineer development team.
