Consultant Medical Underwriter

Job Summary

We are looking for Medical Underwriters to join our healthcare and insurance operations

team. The role involves reviewing medical information, evaluating health risks, applying

underwriting guidelines, and supporting accurate and timely insurance decisions.

Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess medical information received from customers/proposals.
- Evaluate medical history, diagnoses, investigations, reports, and other relevant health

information.
- Apply defined **medical underwriting guidelines and risk assessment principles**.
- Identify medical risk factors and assess their impact on insurance eligibility.
- Review medical examination and tele/video medical examination reports, wherever

applicable.
- Take appropriate underwriting decisions based on established rules, guidelines, and

insurer requirements.
- Identify cases requiring additional medical information or clarification.
- Maintain accuracy and quality while processing cases within defined TAT.
- Coordinate with internal teams, medical professionals,



and insurance partners when

required.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with underwriting processes.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer and medical information.
- Support quality improvement and process enhancement initiatives.

Required Skills
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and human anatomy.
- Positive understanding of common diseases, medical conditions, investigations, and

treatments.
- Ability to interpret medical reports and health-related information.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to work within defined TAT and quality parameters.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and computer applications.
- Ability to follow SOPs, underwriting guidelines, and process requirements.

- BAMS / BHMS / B.Pharm / BPT / MBBS or other relevant healthcare qualifications.
