Job Summary
You will own a module or feature area within the POS product end to end - from understanding what a cashier or store manager actually struggles with, through to whether the capability is in real use ninetydays after release. This is the level at which the job changes from executing a specification to owning an outcome. You will run the discovery, write the requirements, scope with Engineering, sign off UAT, ship it, and then answer for adoption. You will also carry the communication and enablement for what you build - release notes, webinars, user guides - so you stay close to how the product reaches customers.
Responsibilities
Product Thinking Discovery
- Work with the Senior / Lead Product Manager and Product leadership to shape the roadmap for your area with a data-driven, customer-centric mindset.
- Deep dive into customer workflows, pain points and product gaps through research, interviews store visits and data analysis.
- Participate in ideation, scoping and prioritisation of recent features and enhancements.
- Analyse POS data structures and retail workflows to inform product decisions.
- Frame problems clearly before proposing solutions; separate the symptom a customer reports from the cause.
- Bring sized, evidenced opportunities into the POS roadmap with a Feature Brief. Requirements, Solution Definition Documentation
- Convert business problems into functional requirements - PRDs, detailed business requirements (FRDs), user stories, process flows, workflows and scenarios.
- Design wireframes, workflows and mockups to visualise features and user journeys, collaborating with UI/UX as needed.
- Define acceptance criteria for everything you own.
- Interact with the solution architect in support of architecting the solution.
- Scope and estimate with Engineering; map dependencies on other POS modules and on the ERP and OMS pods.
- Prioritise and groom your backlog on Jira on a weekly cadence.
- Deliver prototypes and clickable mockups, not just documents - build enough to validate the idea before engineering handoff.
Agile Delivery Quality
- Coordinate with the development team on a day-to-day basis to develop specifications into the product solution.
- Facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming and agile ceremonies to keep development cycles smooth.
- Take scope and trade-off decisions within your area; escalate anything that puts a committed date at risk early, with a proposed mitigation.
- Conduct user acceptance tests with QA to ensure requirement fulfilment; triage defects rather than only logging them.
- Troubleshoot problems encountered in integration by understanding the API response against your functional understanding.
- Validate solutions with stakeholders both before and after development.
- Test against real store conditions - intermittent connectivity, hardware variance, peak-hour billing load.
Post-Launch Success
- Define success metrics before you build and monitor product performance after launch.
- Monitor feature adoption, gather feedback and recommend iterations; own your area until the capability is demonstrably in use.
- Engage directly with key customers during UAT, feedback sessions and product demonstrations to validate solutions.
- Provide support on gaps in delivered features and close them into the next iteration.
- Use data and analytics to inform continuous improvement and your own prioritisation.
- Look for opportunities to embed AI-native capability into your workflows - automation and copilots, not another dashboard.
Collaboration, Communication Enablement
- Act as the bridge between business, technology and customer-facing teams.
- Liaise with Customer Success, Sales and Support to gather feedback and evangelise product capability.
- Publish release notes to customers and stakeholders ahead of every release.
- Conduct webinars and create release videos to train and demonstrate functionality to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Create and maintain the user guide for your area with proper change management.
- Create and maintain public-facing product interface documentation - APIs and webhooks - where applicable.
- Equip Sales, Support and Customer Success so they can communicate what you shipped and win with customers.
- Continuously improve internal processes related to product discovery and delivery.
Ownership Decision Authority
- Own a POS module or feature area end to end, across discovery, definition, delivery and post-launch adoption.
- Decide scope and trade-offs within your area; own and prioritise your backlog.
- Escalate cross-module and cross-pod dependencies to the Senior / Lead Product Manager rather than resolving them unilaterally.
- Accountable for the adoption outcome of your area, not only for shipping it.
Essential Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in Business Analysis and/or Product Management in a SaaS environment.
- Proven ability to gather and translate business needs into scalable software features.
- Excellent understanding of functional and operations mapping in an application; methodical
