The Microbiology Technician is responsible for performing routine microbiological tests on clinical specimens, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting. The role supports patient diagnosis, treatment, and infection control while following hospital and NABH standards.

- Key Responsibilities

- Collect, process, and analyse clinical specimens such as blood, urine, sputum, swabs, and other body fluids.

- Perform bacterial, fungal, and parasitological cultures and sensitivity testing.

- Conduct rapid diagnostic tests and basic microbiology procedures as per laboratory protocols.

- Operate, maintain, and clean laboratory equipment such as microscopes, incubators, and autoclaves.

- Record, interpret, and report test results accurately and on time.

- Follow strict infection control and biosafety guidelines in handling specimens.

- Maintain laboratory inventory, reagents, and consumables.

- Assist in quality control and NABH compliance activities.

- Collaborate with laboratory staff and clinicians for efficient workflow.





- Qualifications Experience

- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) with specialization in Microbiology or B.Sc . in Microbiology.

- 0-2 years of experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory (fresher s may be considered).

- Knowledge of microbiological techniques, laboratory safety, and infection control.

- Skills Competencies

- Proficiency in routine microbiology tests and laboratory equipment handling.

- Attention to detail and accuracy in specimen processing and reporting.

- Awareness of infection control, biosafety, and NABH laboratory standards.

- Ability to work under supervision and in a team workplace.

- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
