About the Role
We are looking for an experienced LIMS Application Specialist to manage, support and enhance the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) across the Medanta Diagnostics vertical.
The role will be responsible for LIMS administration, laboratory workflow configuration, database management, system integrations, application troubleshooting and production support. The position will work closely with laboratory operations, IT, application teams, vendors and business stakeholders to ensure seamless and reliable diagnostic operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. LIMS Application Administration & Support
- Manage day-to-day administration, configuration and support of the LIMS application.
- Configure and maintain laboratory tests, test profiles, packages, reference ranges, panels and other master data.
- Support user creation, access management, roles and application permissions.
- Monitor application performance and ensure timely resolution of user issues.
- Provide functional and technical support to laboratory and operational teams.
2. Laboratory Workflow & Operations
- Understand and configure end-to-end laboratory workflows, including registration, sample collection, accessioning, processing, validation, reporting and result delivery.
- Work closely with laboratory teams to understand operational requirements and translate them into LIMS configurations.
- Support implementation of new tests, packages, profiles, locations and laboratory processes.
- Identify opportunities for workflow optimisation and automation.
3. Database Management & SQL
- Work with Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 environments.
- Develop and execute SQL queries and T-SQL scripts for troubleshooting, data validation and reporting.
- Analyse database-level issues and support data extraction, reconciliation and correction activities.
- Ensure data integrity and support database performance troubleshooting.
4. Analyzer & System Integrations
- Support integration of laboratory analyzers with LIMS using HL7, ASTM and other relevant protocols.
- Troubleshoot analyzer-interface and result-mapping issues.
- Manage integrations with HIS, EMR, ERP, CRM, billing and other third-party applications.
- Work with internal IT teams and external vendors for interface development, testing and deployment.
- Support REST APIs, Web Services and other integration technologies.
5. Application Troubleshooting & Production Support
- Provide production support for critical LIMS incidents and system issues.
- Perform detailed troubleshooting, debugging and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Coordinate with IT infrastructure, database, networking and vendor teams for issue resolution.
- Monitor recurring issues and implement preventive and corrective actions.
- Participate in critical incident management and ensure timely closure of production issues.
6. Reporting & MIS
- Develop and support operational reports and MIS using SQL-based data extraction.
- Support Power BI dashboards and reporting requirements, where applicable.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of data used for management reporting.
7. Documentation & User Support
- Prepare and maintain SOPs, user manuals, technical documents and configuration records.
- Conduct user training and provide application guidance to laboratory teams.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of system changes, incidents, RCA and resolutions.
- Support UAT, system upgrades, enhancements and new module implementations.
8. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as a key interface between laboratory operations, IT, application vendors and other business stakeholders.
- Understand business requirements and translate them into functional/technical specifications.
- Coordinate with vendors for enhancements, issue resolution, integrations and system upgrades.
- Ensure timely communication and closure of critical application issues.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong hands-on experience in LIMS application administration and support.
- Good knowledge of laboratory processes and diagnostic operations.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and T-SQL.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Understanding of HL7, ASTM and LIS/analyzer integrations.
- Knowledge of REST APIs, Web Services and third-party integrations.
- Experience in troubleshooting, debugging and RCA.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and handle critical incidents.
- Strong documentation and SOP-writing skills.
Preferred Background
Candidates with experience in any of the following domains will be preferred:

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, Electronics or a related discipline.
- Additional certification or training in healthcare IT, databases, LIMS/LIS or system integration will be an advantage.
