Kolkata

Orion Educational Society (OES), the social impact arm of Orion Edutech, works in the areas of skill development, employability and sustainable livelihoods, with a growing national presence across 29 states.

The Communications function plays an important role in translating OES's programmes, impact, partnerships, credentials and institutional priorities into clear, credible and compelling communication for learners, families, CSR partners, government and policy stakeholders, donors, employers and other audiences.

This role offers an opportunity to work directly with the VP - Communications & Strategies, gaining exposure to brand building, strategic communications, digital marketing, institutional communication, CSR engagement, campaign development and leadership-level decision-making within a growing national social-impact organisation.

About the Role

OES is looking for a creative, technically capable and data-driven Assistant Manager - Creative & Digital Communications to join its Communications team in Sector V, Kolkata.

This is a hands-on role bringing together creative design, presentations and institutional communication, digital marketing, website management, social media, technology and performance analytics.

You will translate communication strategy and ideas into compelling visual and digital experiences across the OES website, social media, paid campaigns, SEO, SEM, email and other digital channels, while continuously measuring and optimising performance.

The role is deliberately designed for someone who can create as well as execute. You should be able to conceptualise a creative, design a presentation or report, build or update a landing page, launch a campaign, manage digital platforms, monitor performance and then understand what worked, what did not, and why.

A key objective of the role is to ensure that OES's active and upcoming credentials, government scheme alignment, CSR partnerships, programmes and impact reach the right audiences through the right channels, backed by data rather than assumptions.

This is a one-point-solution role. Creative, website, campaigns, SEO, social, email and the data behind them sit with one accountable owner, creating a consistent source of truth rather than fragmented execution or insight scattered across different tools, vendors or people.

Key Responsibilities

Creative, Visual & Institutional Communication

- Conceptualise and create visual communication for OES across digital, social, web, print and institutional platforms.
- Develop social media creatives, campaign assets, digital banners, carousels, infographics, advertisements, emailers, thumbnails, event creatives and other branded assets.
- Create high-quality PowerPoint presentations, leadership decks, pitch decks, proposals, brochures, annual reports, impact reports, programme reports, fact sheets, one-pagers, case studies and other institutional communication materials.
- Translate complex programme information, impact stories and data into clear, structured and visually compelling communication.
- Support senior management with presentations and visual communication for important meetings, CSR engagements, government and donor interactions, events, reviews and institutional pitches.
- Maintain consistency of OES's visual identity across all communication and develop reusable templates and visual systems where required.
- Explore new visual formats, AI-assisted creative workflows and emerging digital content trends.
- Ensure that creative work is not only aesthetically strong but aligned with the communication objective, audience and desired action.

Website & Digital Experience

- Manage and continuously improve the OES WordPress website, keeping it current, useful, visually engaging and technically sound.
- Create, build and update audience-segmented landing pages for corporate CSR partners, government stakeholders, enrolling families, prospective learners, donors and other priority audiences.
- From time to time, translate a ready visual mockup, design reference or AI-assisted design concept for a new page, section or feature into a live WordPress experience, closely matching the intended layout, structure, hierarchy and visual intent.
- Treat the mockup as the brief and independently make it functional, while identifying and escalating advanced functionality that requires developer support.
- Regularly update website content, landing pages, blog posts, banners, programme information and other digital components so the website remains active rather than static.
- Manage and improve key trust-building and interactive features such as certificate verification, impact reporting and donor-facing functionality as these are developed.

- Ensure the website remains mobile-responsive, fast-loading, user-friendly and SEO-optimised.
- Use WordPress, Elementor and RankMath for day-to-day page management, optimisation and SEO.
- Troubleshoot routine website issues and coordinate with external developers for advanced enhancements while retaining independent ownership of daily website management.

Digital Marketing & Campaigns

- Own and maintain the digital content and campaign calendar in sync with the wider Communications calendar.
- Develop both the creative direction and digital execution of campaigns.
- Plan and execute campaigns across Google, Meta and LinkedIn, with audience-specific targeting, tone, creative formats and objectives.
- Build campaigns for distinct OES audiences, including corporate CSR decision-makers, government and policy stakeholders, prospective learners and families, donors, employers and corporate HR/Talent Acquisition teams.
- Support employer-brand communication targeted at corporate HR and Talent Acquisition audiences, strengthening OES's bulk placement and employer partnerships over time.
- Own SEO end to end, including on-page and off-page optimisation.
- Manage SEM/PPC campaigns with continuous performance tracking and optimisation.
- Develop and test multiple creative variants, audiences, formats, messages and calls to action to identify what actually converts.
- Manage email marketing and lead-nurturing sequences, particularly for donor, partner, CSR and stakeholder communication.
- Identify opportunities where stronger creative, improved landing pages, better targeting or changes in user experience can improve campaign performance.
- Experiment with new campaign formats, platforms and ideas instead of relying only on established execution patterns.

Social Media & Digital Content

- Manage day-to-day posting, scheduling and publishing across OES's social platforms in coordination with the Content Executive and Graphic Designer.
- Translate stories, programme updates and content ideas into compelling, platform-specific visual communication.
- Design and adapt posts, carousels, campaign creatives, event creatives, thumbnails, reel covers and other social formats.
- Understand the creative and technical requirements of LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and other relevant platforms.
- Ensure every paid and organic digital asset reflects OES's visual identity and brand guidelines consistently.
- Coordinate regional-language content requirements and mobile-first, WhatsApp-native video and visual formats, in line with OES's presence across 29 states.
- Monitor and respond to comments, messages and community engagement promptly and on-brand, escalating sensitive matters to the VP's office.
- Use social performance data to identify which content themes, formats and creative treatments generate stronger engagement.

Analytics, Performance & Decision Support

- Own the full analytics ecosystem across the website, campaigns, social media and email, ensuring leadership works from one consistent and reliable source of truth.
- Maintain accurate, real-time performance data and reporting dashboards.
- Work with Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager and Looker Studio to monitor and report performance.
- Translate raw data into clear, decision-ready insight: what is working, what is not, why it may be happening and what should happen next, rather than producing charts without a point of view.
- Analyse the relationship between creative and campaign performance, including CTR, engagement, conversion, bounce rate and other relevant metrics.
- Identify whether a performance issue is related to creative, messaging, targeting, landing-page experience, technical performance or funnel leakage.
- Proactively flag underperformance and opportunities before being asked. The expectation is to surface answers, not wait for questions.
- Build and maintain real-time dashboards that enable leadership to make informed strategic decisions, optimise campaigns and allocate resources effectively.
- Ensure that significant resourcing and strategic communications decisions can be supported by real data rather than assumptions.

Reporting, Governance & Process

- Deliver structured weekly operational reports and monthly and bi-monthly leadership dashboards designed for instant legibility,

with ownership, status, performance and outcomes visible at a glance.
- Present data in a clear narrative that enables non-technical leadership to understand the implications and decide what to do next.
- Follow OES's centralised content approval workflow and SOPs.
- Actively help refine digital and creative processes as the Communications function matures. This role is expected to build process, not merely follow it.
- Build and maintain a shared task-tracking system covering digital, creative and campaign deliverables, deadlines and recurring actions.
- Maintain organised libraries of source files, presentations, reports, templates and digital assets.

Collaboration & Execution

- Work directly with the Content Executive and Graphic Designer to ensure digital assets align with OES's core narrative, visual identity and campaign objectives.
- Ensure content, creative, website, social and campaign execution function as one integrated communication system.
- Coordinate with external developers, agencies and specialist vendors wherever required.
- Support the Communications function during high-priority periods, campaign launches, reporting cycles, CSR pitches, institutional presentations, events and other critical requirements.
- Work directly with the VP - Communications & Strategies, gaining practical exposure to strategic communications, institutional positioning, brand development, stakeholder engagement and leadership-level decision-making.

Required Skills & Experience

- 2+ years of hands-on experience across creative design, digital marketing, website management and performance reporting.
- Strong creative instinct with the ability to independently conceptualise and produce digital and institutional communication.
- Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and presentation design, alongside Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva or equivalent tools.
- Experience creating presentations, pitch decks, reports, brochures, infographics, campaign assets and other institutional communication.
- Working knowledge of WordPress, including page building and basic troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Elementor and RankMath.
- Strong understanding of SEO, SEM, Google Ads, Meta Ads and LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager and Looker Studio.
- Familiarity with SEMrush, Ahrefs or similar SEO tools.
- Familiarity with website optimisation, page-speed improvement and UI/UX best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to turn raw data into a clear narrative for non-technical leadership. This matters as much as technical proficiency.
- Ability to connect creative decisions with measurable digital performance.
- Basic writing ability across landing-page copy, ad copy, email content and social media.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design, content and digital workflows.
- Comfort with regional-language content coordination and mobile-first, WhatsApp-native digital formats.
- Familiarity with the government skilling and CSR ecosystem, including PMKVY, DDU-GKY and NSDC, is an advantage, though not mandatory.
- Excellent analytical, communication, creative and problem-solving skills.

Staying Current

Digital, AI and social platforms evolve quickly. Stay current with relevant tools, trends, formats, SEO, paid media and analytics, and proactively share useful developments with the Communications function. A brief monthly recommendation to the VP on one tool, trend or opportunity is part of the role.

Tools You'll Work With

Analytics: GA4, Search Console, Tag Manager, Looker Studio SEO: SEMrush, Ahrefs Paid & Social: Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, Meta Business Suite, Buffer/Publer Email: Brevo, Zoho Campaigns Web: WordPress, Elementor, RankMath, basic HTML/CSS Creative: Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, AI-assisted tools Presentations: PowerPoint and related tools Workflow: Asana, Trello or equivalent

What We're Actually Looking For

We want someone who cannot leave a metric unexplained and is comfortable using real-time dashboards to understand what is working, what is not, and why.

You should be comfortable testing creative and campaign variants, identifying funnel gaps, and turning performance insights into explicit action, whether that means changing the creative, improving a landing page, adjusting targeting or reallocating spend.

At the same time, creative quality matters. The ideal candidate can move from a leadership presentation to a social creative, an AI-assisted web mockup to a live WordPress page, and a dashboard insight to a strategic recommendation.

This combination of creative thinking, technical execution and performance intelligence is what makes the role distinct.
