The Mason is responsib le for carrying out masonry and general construc tion works using
bricks, concrete blocks, stones. tiles, cement, and other building materials. The postholder must
ensure that all work is completed accurately, safely, and according to approved drawi ngs.

Main Dutie s and Responsibilities
I. Construct walls. partitions, foundations, columns, drain age structures, pavements, and
other masonry works using bricks. concrete blocks, stones, and cement.
2. Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, measurements, and technical
specification s.
3. Measure, mark, and prepare work areas before commencing masonry activities.
4. Prepare cement mortar, concrete, plaster, and other construction mixtures in the
correct proportions.
5. Lay bricks, blocks, and stones evenly and accurately using levels , plumb lines,
measuring tapes, and other masonry tools.
6. Carry out internal and external plastering, renderi ng, screeding, and finishing works.
7. Install floor and wall tiles. paving blocks. kerbstones, and other finishing material s
where required.
8. Const ruct and repair concrete floors, steps, pathways. drains, boundary walls, and
retaining walls.
9. Repair cracks, damaged walls, plaster, concrete surfaces, and other masonry
structures.
10. Ensure that walls, floors, and other structures are properly aligned, levelled, and
finished.
II . Assist with the construction and installation of formwork for conc rete struct ures
where necessary .
12. Pour, spread. compact, and finish concrete for floors, slabs. foundations. columns, and
other structures .
13. Estimate the quantity of cement. sand, blocks. bricks. tiles, and other materials
required for assigned work.
14. Minimise wastage and ens ure the proper use of construction materials.
15. Inspect completed work and correc t any defects or imperfections.
16. Maintain masonry tools, equipment. and work areas in a clean and serviceable
condition.
17.
Follow instructions provided by the Site Supervisor. Foreman, and Engineer.
18. Work closely with carpe nters. electricians, plumbers, painters, stee l fixers, labourers,
and othe r construction personnel.
CLEANING & MAINTENANCE
19. Erect, nd dismantle bas ic working platforms or scaffolding in acco rdance with safety
requirr .n ents.
20. Ensur ; that construction debri s and unused materi als are cleared from the work area.
21. Comp ~ , with all workplace health and safety procedu res.
22. Wear . t e required personal protective equipment, including safety boots, gloves,
helmets protective glasses, and reflective clothing.
23. Report 1 nsafe conditio ns, defective equipment, accidents, injuries, or construction
defects ) the supervisor immediately.
24. Perform any other masonry, const ruction, repair, or maintenance duties assigned by
Supervis or
Required Qual fication s
- Certifi, ate in Masonry, Construc tion, Building Works, or a related field is desirable.
- Releva It vocational train ing or apprenticeship in masonry.
- Previa JS practical experience as a mason or construction worker.
- Ability to read basic construction drawings and measurements.
- Knowredge of masonry techn iques, building materials, and construction safety
requirements.
Experience
- A minimum of 3-5 yea rs relevant expe rience in masonry or general construction work
is preferred.
- Experience in bricklay ing, blockwork, plastering, concrete works, tiling, and general
building maintenance is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Good knowledge of bricklaying , blockwork, plastering, rendering, and concrete
works.
- Ability to use masonry too ls and construction equ ipment safely.
- Good measurement and calculation skills.
- Ability to work accurately and produce high-quality finishes.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and construction drawings.
- Positive physical strength, stamina, and coordi nation .
- Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team.
- Good time-management and organisational skills.
- Reliability, discipline, and atte ntion to detail.
- Awareness of occupational health and safety requirements.
Physica l Requiremen ts
The postholder must be able to:
- Lift and carry construction materials and equipment.
- Stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work for exte nded periods.
- Work at heights where required.
- Work in hot, dusty, noisy, wet, or outdoor conditions.
CLEANING &MAINTENANCE;
- Perform physically demanding duties safely.
- Use personal protective equip ment at all times.
Working Cond itions
The Mason may be requi red to work:
- On construction sites and existing buildings.
- Indoors and outdoors.
- At heights or in confined work areas.
- During weekend s, public holidays, or outside normal working hours when required by
project deadline s.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Good command in English is a must
- Good knowledge of masonery techniques, material s, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to measure accurate ly and follow work instructions.
- Basic understanding of building maintenance and safety standards.

Renumerations
Gross pay USD550 per month inclusive of food allowance
