Job Overview

We are looking for a Backup & Replication Administrator – L1 to manage and monitor enterprise backup and replication environments. The role will be responsible for backup job monitoring, troubleshooting failures, backup and restore operations, backup infrastructure support, and ensuring data protection and recovery within defined SLA timelines.

The candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Commvault, along with exposure to enterprise Windows/Linux environments and backup operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and monitor backup operations using Commvault; knowledge of NetBackup is an added advantage.
- Configure and maintain backup policies, schedules, and retention strategies.
- Perform daily monitoring of backup jobs and troubleshoot failures within SLA timelines.
- Support backup and restore operations across Windows and Linux/UNIX environments.
- Configure and manage backup clients and backup agents.
- Perform snapshot-based backups for physical and virtual environments.
- Support Kubernetes backup operations and S3-compatible object storage integrations.
- Conduct health checks and proactive monitoring of backup environments.
- Apply patches and updates to backup systems while ensuring compatibility.
- Troubleshoot backup and restore issues and perform log analysis.
- Maintain backup documentation, SOPs, and configuration records.
- Assist with Disaster Recovery (DR) testing and validation.
- Coordinate with storage, network, and infrastructure teams for issue resolution.
- Generate and share daily/weekly backup performance and capacity reports.




- Participate in 24x7 operations and on-call rotations.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3+ years of experience as a Backup Administrator / Backup Engineer in an enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with Commvault – Mandatory.
- Experience with Commvault Command Center and CommCell Console.
- Good understanding of backup configuration, scheduling, and retention management.
- Strong understanding of Full, Incremental, and Synthetic Full backup strategies.
- Experience supporting backup environments across Linux/UNIX and Windows.
- Knowledge of snapshot management, replication, and deduplication concepts.
- Exposure to S3-compatible object storage and AWS cloud backup integrations.
- Understanding of tape libraries and media management.
- Strong backup troubleshooting, log analysis, and RCA skills.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools.
- Basic scripting knowledge in PowerShell/Bash for automation and monitoring.
- Exposure to disaster recovery and replication strategies.
- Experience working in enterprise/data-centre environments is preferred.

Good to Have

- Knowledge of Veritas NetBackup.
- Commvault or Veritas NetBackup certification.
- ITIL Foundation certification.
- Experience with remote monitoring and support tools.
- Exposure to Kubernetes backup and object storage environments.

Education

BE / B.Tech / M.Tech / MSc / MCA or equivalent qualification.
