Position: Carpenter

Reports To: Site Supervisor

Job Purpose

The Carpenter is responsible for carrying out carpentry works related to furnitur e making

repair, installation, and building maintenanc e. The role ensures that all wooden structures,

fittings, furniture, partitions, doors, windows , ceilings, and other carpentry works are properly

constructed, repaired, and maintained in acco rdance with safety standards and organisational

requirements .

Main Duties and Responsibi lities

1. Construct, repair , and maintain wooden furnitur e such as tables, chairs, cabinets,

shelves, cupboards, counters, desks, and storage units.

2. Carry out carpentry works for buildings, includ ing installation and repair of doors,

windows, frames, partitions, ceilings, flooring, skirting, roofin g structures, and other

wooden fixtures.

3. Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood and other materials according to

specifications, drawings, or instructions.

4. Install locks, hinges, handles, brackets, and other fittings on furniture, doors,

windows, and cabinets.

5. Inspect damaged furniture , fixtures, and building structures and recommend

appropriate repairs or replacement.

6. Carry out preventive maintenance on furniture, wooden fittings, and building

structures to ensure durability and safety.

7. Read and interpret basic drawings, sketches, work orders, and measurements for

carpentry assignments.

8. Use carpentry tools, machines, and equipm ent safely and properly, including saws,

drill s, planes, sanders, chisels, and measuring tools.

9. Prepare surfaces for finishing, including sanding, polishing, varnishing, painting, or

applying protective coating.

10. Ensure that all carpentry works are completed within agreed timelines and to the

required quality standard.

II . Maintain proper records ofmaterials used, work completed, and any additi onal

materials required.

12. Assist in estimating materials, tools,



and equipment needed for assigned carpentry

works.

13. Maintain cleanliness and order in the workshop and work areas after completion of

tasks.

14. Comply with occupational health and safety procedures at all times, including the

proper use of personal protective equipment.

15. Report defects, safety hazards, equipment faults, or maintenance conce rns to the

supervisor.

CLEANING &MAINTENANCE;

16. Assist with minor masonry, maintenance, and general repair works when required.

17. Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor or management.

Required Qualifi cations and Experience

Qualifications:

- Certificate in Carpentry, Joinery, Woodwork, Construction, or a related field.
- Trade certificate or vocational training in carpentry would be an advantage .

Experience:

- Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in carpentry, furniture making, building

maintenance, or related work.

- Experience in both furnitur e production and building repairs would be an advantage.

Required Skills and Competencies

- Good knowledge of carpe ntry technique s, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to measure accurat ely and follow work instruction s.
- Ability to construct and repair furniture and building fittings.
- Basic understanding of building maintenance and safety standards.

- Ability to follow health and safety procedures.

Working Conditions

The Carpenter may be requir ed to work in workshops, offices, buildings, outdoor areas, and

construction or maintenance sites . The role may involve lifting materials, standing for long

periods, using power tools, and working in areas where safety precautions must be strictly

followed.

Physical Requi rements

The posthold er must be able to:

- Lift and carry construction materials and equipment.
- Stand, bend, kneel, climb , and work for extended periods.
- Work at heights where required.
- Work in hot, dusty, noisy, wet, or outdoor conditions.
- Perform physically demanding duties safely.
- Use personal protective equipm ent at all times.

CLEANING &MAINTENANCE;

Working Conditions

The Mason may be requi red to work:

- On construction sites and existing buildings.
- Indoors and outdoors.
- At heights or in confin ed work areas.
- During weekend s, public holidays, or outside normal working hours when required by

project deadlines.

Requi red Skills and Competencies

- Good command in English is a must
- Good knowl edge of masonery techniques, materi als, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to measure accurately and follow work instructions.

Renumerations

Gross pay USD550 per month inclusive of food allowance
