This position is part of the Infrastructure Services business of Kyndryl, which provides Managed IT Services to clients across India. The business unit supports client IT infrastructure, including End-User and Deskside Support, Asset Management, Service Management, and related IT services.

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Deskside Engineer to provide on-site IT support at a manufacturing plant. The role involves troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues, providing technical support to end users, and managing IT assets.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in a manufacturing or plant environment, strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, good communication abilities, and the capability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure desktop operating systems, messaging clients, and standard business applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, WinZip, and WinRAR.
- Perform software installations and deployments in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Add, remove, and configure accessories, peripherals, and mobile devices.
- Configure desktops and laptops according to established desktop/laptop standardization policies.
- Install and configure printers, scanners, data cards, and other peripheral devices.
- Configure internet, proxy, and related network settings on end-user devices.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot email/messaging clients.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Windows OS, desktop, and laptop-related issues.
- Diagnose and isolate system and standard software issues and coordinate with respective vendors for hardware-related problems.
- Troubleshoot printer and scanner issues at user locations and coordinate with vendors for hardware-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records of newly installed machines, machine movements within the site, configuration changes, and other asset-related information using the asset management system.
- Manage disk and folder sharing, including appropriate permission settings on desktops.
- Assist users in accessing applications in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provision user privileges in accordance with desktop management and domain policies.
- Install and configure application clients as per the prescribed SOPs.
- Coordinate with vendors for call logging, tracking, escalation, and closure of OEM-related desktop hardware and software issues.
- Provide support for video conferencing (VC) setup and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with vendors for issues related to video conferencing equipment and infrastructure.
- Provide basic support for LAN, printing, and file services.
- Maintain proper documentation of incidents, service requests, configurations, and resolutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in Deskside/Desktop Support.
- Strong knowledge of IT service desk and ticketing tools.
- Good understanding of End-User Support processes and IT support operations.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of Windows operating systems, desktop hardware, peripherals, and basic networking.
- Hands-on experience with standard business applications and desktop support technologies.
- Experience with IT asset management and inventory tracking.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with end users, internal teams, and external vendors.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple incidents and service requests in a quick-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work in shift-based operations, if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience working in a manufacturing/plant environment will be an added advantage.
- Experience with ticketing tools, asset management systems, and standard enterprise applications.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certifications, or ITIL Foundation will be an added advantage.
