Project Role: Senior Storage Engineer – Nasuni, AWS Cloud & Backup

Project Role Description: Design, implement, and manage enterprise hybrid cloud storage solutions using Nasuni, AWS cloud-native backup services, with good-to-have skills in Dell EMC ECS and Tintri VM-aware storage. Act as a storage SME to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex storage incidents across critical business systems.

SUMMARY

Design, build, configure, and manage hybrid cloud storage environments integrating Nasuni cloud file services with AWS-native storage and backup solutions. The role involves administering storage platforms across cloud and on-premises infrastructure to meet business continuity, performance, and compliance requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As an experienced Storage Administrator, the role will involve providing Storage technical administration support and storage development services. The person must possess confidence in technical abilities to perform day-to-day storage administration, project migration, and production issue troubleshooting.

Technical Experience:

Hands-on experience with Nasuni UniFS global file system, Edge Appliances, and Nasuni Management Console (NMC).

Expertise in AWS storage services: S3, EFS, FSx (Windows/NetApp ONTAP), AWS Backup, DataSync, and Storage Gateway.

Deep knowledge of AWS cloud-native backup strategies including backup policies, lifecycle rules, cross-region replication, and disaster recovery.

Configure and manage Nasuni integration with AWS S3 as the cloud object storage backend.

Manage Nasuni snapshot versioning, ransomware protection, and global file locking for distributed environments.

Design and implement AWS IAM policies, S3 bucket policies, and Object Lock for data governance and compliance.

Experience in Nasuni migration activities from legacy NAS platforms (NetApp, Isilon, Windows File Server).

Automate storage operations using Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, or AWS CloudFormation.

Good to have: Dell EMC ECS object storage cluster administration, namespace/bucket configuration, and S3-compatible API integration.

Good to have: Tintri VMstore administration, per-VM QoS, snapshot management, and VMware vCenter integration.





ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Expected to perform independently and become an SME in Nasuni and AWS cloud storage domains.

Required active participation and contribution in team discussions, architecture reviews, and change advisory board (CAB) processes.

Contribute in providing solutions to work-related storage problems, including capacity planning and performance optimization.

Assist in monitoring system performance and proactively identify potential issues to prevent downtime across Nasuni, AWS, ECS, and Tintri platforms.

Support junior team members by sharing knowledge and providing guidance on technical challenges related to cloud and on-premises storage.

Participate in the development and improvement of operational runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and storage automation scripts.

Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with Nasuni product updates, AWS storage services, and industry best practices.

Coordinate with vendors (Nasuni, AWS, Dell EMC, Tintri) for escalation, issue resolution, and product licensing.

Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical storage incidents and backup/restore operations.

PROFESSIONAL & TECHNICAL SKILLS

Must Have Skills:

Nasuni Cloud Storage: Proficiency in Nasuni UniFS, Edge Appliances, NMC, snapshot policies, ransomware recovery, and cloud backend integration.

AWS Storage & Backup: Expertise in S3, EFS, FSx, AWS Backup, DataSync, Storage Gateway, and cost optimization strategies.

Backup & Recovery: Strong understanding of backup architectures, RPO/RTO objectives, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity.

Protocols: Strong knowledge of NFS, SMB/CIFS, S3, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel storage protocols.

Security & Compliance: Understanding of data encryption (at-rest and in-transit), RBAC, IAM, and compliance frameworks (SOX, GDPR, HIPAA).

Automation: Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Terraform for storage provisioning and operational automation.

Monitoring: Experience with AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk, or equivalent monitoring and alerting platforms.

Active Directory & LDAP: Experience integrating file storage platforms with enterprise identity and access management systems.

Good to Have Skills:

Dell EMC ECS: Object storage administration, erasure coding, geo-distribution, and S3-compatible API integration.

Tintri Storage: VMstore administration, VM-aware QoS, ReplicateVM, Tintri Global Center (TGC) management.

Additional Platforms: Familiarity with NetApp ONTAP, Pure Storage, Veeam, Commvault, or Veritas NetBackup.

Kubernetes Storage:



Experience with CSI drivers, persistent volumes, and Rook-Ceph for containerized workloads.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to think logically through complex storage problems. Must have the initiative, tenacity, and commitment to see problems through to resolution.

Ability to work shift patterns and provide 24/7 support for critical storage and backup systems.

Good third-party liaison skills — able to engage effectively with suppliers of storage products, hardware vendors, and cloud service providers.

The candidate should have a minimum of 7 years of experience in Nasuni cloud storage and AWS cloud-native backup solutions.

Experience with Nasuni and AWS in production environments supporting large-scale, mission-critical workloads is highly preferred.

Strong documentation skills — ability to produce architecture diagrams, runbooks, capacity reports, and incident post-mortems.

This position is based at our office (Hybrid / On-site as applicable).

A 15-year full-time education (B.E. / B.Tech / MCA or equivalent in Computer Science, IT, or Engineering) is required.
