- A dental specialist specialty (handling 2021 guidelines)
- Certification is mandatory
- Valuable knowledge of medical coding systems, medical terminologies, regulatory requirements, auditing concepts and principles
- Assign appropriate codes to each procedure using Current Dental Terminology (CDT), CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II
- Document treatments and ensure codes meet federal regulations and insurance standards
