Job Role: Scientific Officer – Biochemistry

Job Description
- Review, validate, interpret, and authorize routine and specialized biochemistry test reports.
- Correlate unexpected or abnormal test values with patient history.
- Promptly notify clinicians regarding critical or significant laboratory results.
- Ensure high clinical accuracy and timely turnaround of laboratory reports.
- Monitor daily Internal Quality Control (IQC) activities.
- Analyze Westgard rules and evaluate EQAS results.
- Identify quality issues and implement appropriate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Supervise automated biochemistry analyzers and ensure smooth laboratory operations.
- Perform calibration verification and assist with equipment maintenance.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, logs, and documentation.
- Ensure strict adherence to NABL/CAP quality standards.
- Support laboratory audits and maintain audit readiness.
- Work with LIMS and ensure accurate processing and reporting of laboratory results.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting & Authorization:




- Verify and release biochemistry test reports.
- Interpret laboratory results and identify unusual or critical values.
- Coordinate with clinicians whenever clarification or critical-value notification is required.

Quality Control
- Monitor daily IQC parameters.
- Apply and interpret Westgard rules.
- Review EQAS performance.
- Implement CAPA for identified quality deviations.

Automation & Laboratory Operations
- Operate and supervise automated biochemistry analyzers.
- Perform calibration verification.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Ensure smooth and effective laboratory workflow.

Quality & Compliance
- Follow NABL and CAP standards and laboratory protocols.
- Maintain required logs and quality documentation.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Ensure laboratory processes remain compliant with established quality requirements.
