Job Summary

The Lab Trainee will undergo practical training in laboratory operations and assist the laboratory team in routine diagnostic procedures. The trainee will learn proper sample collection, handling, processing, testing, documentation, infection control, and laboratory safety procedures under the supervision of qualified laboratory staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist laboratory technicians in routine laboratory procedures and investigations.
- Receive, identify, label, and properly handle patient specimens.
- Assist in the collection and processing of blood, urine, stool, and other clinical samples as instructed.
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing according to standard procedures.
- Assist in performing routine laboratory tests under supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the laboratory work area.
- Follow laboratory safety, infection control, and biomedical waste management procedures.
- Handle laboratory equipment, instruments,



and consumables carefully.
- Maintain proper records, registers, and test-related documentation.
- Check and maintain laboratory supplies and inform the senior staff about shortages.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and instructions given by senior laboratory staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and handle patient information responsibly.
- Assist in quality control activities as directed by the laboratory supervisor.
- Report any equipment malfunction, sample error, or abnormal incident to the concerned senior staff.
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with patients and other healthcare staff.
- Perform other laboratory-related duties assigned by the Laboratory In-Charge.

Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and medical terminology.
- Basic understanding of specimen collection and handling.
- Positive communication and interpersonal skills.
