Accountant — Roles & Responsibilities

An Accountant in a modular furniture organization is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, monitoring receivables and payables, supporting costing, and ensuring proper financial control of the business.

1. Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Record daily financial transactions accurately.
- Maintain ledgers for income, expenses, purchases, sales, assets, liabilities, and other accounts.
- Post journal entries and adjustment entries.
- Maintain proper supporting documents for all transactions.
- Ensure accounting records are complete and up to date.

2. Purchase & Supplier Accounting
- Record purchase invoices and supplier bills.
- Verify invoices against Purchase Orders and Goods Receipt records.
- Check quantities, rates, taxes, and payment terms.
- Maintain supplier ledgers.
- Prepare supplier payment schedules.
- Follow up on invoice discrepancies with Purchase and Stores.

3. Sales & Customer Accounting
- Prepare and record customer invoices based on approved billing information.




- Maintain customer ledgers.
- Track outstanding receivables.
- Follow up with project/sales teams regarding pending customer payments.
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies.

4. Accounts Payable
- Process supplier invoices for payment.
- Verify supporting documents and approvals.
- Prepare payment requests as per agreed credit terms.
- Maintain accounts payable ageing.
- Coordinate with management for payment priorities.
- Ensure timely and accurate supplier payments.

5. Accounts Receivable
- Monitor customer outstanding balances.
- Prepare receivables ageing reports.
- Track advances, retention amounts, and pending invoices where applicable.
- Follow up for overdue payments.
- Reconcile customer statements.
- Report significant overdue amounts to management.

6. Bank & Cash Management
- Maintain bank and cash transaction records.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations.
- Monitor cash balances.
