About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Head of Merchandising to lead the complete merchandising function for a premium saree brand.
The role will be responsible for translating market trends and brand direction into a commercially successful product assortment while managing product planning, pricing, inventory, assortment, design coordination and merchandise performance.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in sarees, Indian ethnic wear, fashion merchandising and premium apparel, with a strong understanding of both creativity and commercial viability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the complete merchandising strategy for sarees and related product categories.
- Develop seasonal and annual merchandise plans based on market trends, customer preferences and business objectives.
- Plan product assortments, collections, colour palettes, fabrics, designs and price points.
- Work closely with designers and production teams to develop commercially viable products.
- Own product pricing strategy while balancing customer value, margins and brand positioning.
- Analyse historical sales, market trends and customer behaviour to make data-driven assortment decisions.
- Develop inventory plans and ensure the right product is available at the right time and quantity.
- Monitor sell-through, stock ageing, replenishment requirements and product performance.
- Identify bestsellers and underperforming products and take corrective action.
- Coordinate closely with sourcing and production teams to ensure merchandise is developed within cost and timeline requirements.
- Plan collections around festive seasons, weddings, launches and key commercial periods.
- Maintain the right balance between trend-led products, evergreen products and signature brand pieces.
