Job Description
We administer commissions for a large network of independent life insurance agents across multiple carriers. Every carrier has its own compensation structure, advance rules, and chargeback terms, which means a outstanding deal of our work involves determining whether a payment is correct and explaining why when someone disagrees.
We are looking for a Financial Analyst to own that work. You will report directly to our head of commissions and grow into a deputy role, taking on recurring analysis, reporting, and carrier compensation matters.
This is not a reporting-only position. You will investigate discrepancies, correspond with US-based agents and agency principals, and improve the processes that produce our numbers.
What you will do
- Verify that agents and agencies have been paid correctly across carriers and contract tiers, reconstructing payouts from ledgers, carrier statements, and compensation grids
- Maintain compensation grids as carriers issue updates, and resolve errors with carrier compensation departments
- Handle escalated commission inquiries and disputes, including from agency principals with large downlines
- Track reserves, chargebacks, and outstanding balances
- Produce weekly debt balance reporting and support period-end accrual and P&L; work
- Identify manual or error-prone processes and fix them
What we are looking for
- At least 2 years in an analytical, financial, or operational role working regularly with financial data
- Strong analytical judgment. Much of this job is working out which of several conflicting sources is correct, and noticing when a figure is implausible
- Solid financial literacy. You can read statements, ledgers, and reconciliations without help, and you are comfortable with accruals, adjustments, and reversals
- English to a US business standard, written and spoken. You will correspond and speak directly with US-based clients
- Advanced Excel
- Availability 9:30 am to 6:00 pm US Pacific Time, Monday through Fr
