Experienced Hull Engineer – Job Responsibilities
An Experienced Hull Engineer is responsible for supervising and coordinating hull construction, fabrication, erection, outfitting, and repair activities in shipbuilding projects. The role includes reviewing technical drawings, planning work activities, monitoring fabrication and assembly, and ensuring that all work is completed according to approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise hull fabrication, assembly, erection, alignment, and installation activities.
- Review and interpret structural drawings, GA drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with production teams, supervisors, fitters, welders, and subcontractors.
- Monitor fit-up, welding, alignment, dimensional accuracy, and structural quality.
- Plan manpower, materials, tools, and equipment required for hull construction activities.
- Coordinate with QA/QC and inspection teams to ensure compliance with project and classification requirements.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of assigned work.
- Identify technical issues and provide practical solutions during fabrication and erection.
- Prepare daily progress reports and coordinate with project engineers and management.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and shipyard regulations.
- Experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, hull construction, block fabrication, erection, and structural outfitting is preferred.
Qualification: B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical, Marine, or Naval Architecture Engineering
Experience: Preferably 3+ years of relevant experience in shipbuilding or ship repair.
