Therapeutic activities: OTAs work one-on-one with patients to perform therapeutic activities and exercises. They teach patients how to manage their treatment program and ensure they are doing their exercises properly.
Patient progress: OTAs document a patient's progress and record billing information.
Clerical duties: OTAs may also perform basic clerical duties, such as:
Scheduling appointments
Answering phone calls and emails
Collecting patients' medical history
Ordering medical supplies
Treatment planning: OTAs work under the supervision of occupational therapists, who diagnose patients and prescribe treatment plans.
Administrative support: OTAs may also provide administrative support, such as updating files and filling billing reports.
Equipment: OTAs may recommend and explain the use of special equipment.
