Primary Reponsibilities:
Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify potential hazards associated with the ammonia-based refrigeration system, machinery, equipment, and processes.
Develop and Implement Safety Procedures: Create and enforce safety protocols for working with ammonia, including handling, storage, and emergency response procedures.
Provide Training and Awareness: Educate employees on safety procedures, emergency response plans, and the risks associated with ammonia exposure.
Monitor and Enforce Compliance: Ensure that all employees, contractors, and visitors follow safety procedures and regulations.
Investigate Incidents and Near Misses: Conduct thorough investigations into incidents and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Secondary Responsibilities
Maintain Safety Records: Keep accurate records of safety training, incidents, near misses, and compliance inspections.
Conduct Regular Safety Audits: Perform regular safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
Develop and Review Safety Policies: Review and update safety policies and procedures to ensure they remain effective and compliant with regulations.
Collaborate with Other Departments: Work with other departments, such as maintenance, production, and HR, to ensure safety is integrated into all aspects of the business.
Stay Up-to-Date with Regulations: Stay informed about changes to regulations, laws, and industry standards to ensure the company remains compliant.
Specific to Ammonia-Based Refrigeration System
Ensure Proper Ammonia Handling: Ensure that ammonia is handled, stored, and used in accordance with safety protocols and regulations.
Monitor Ammonia Levels: Regularly monitor ammonia levels in the refrigeration system to prevent leaks and exposure.
