Senior Pharmacist – Job Responsibilities
Manage hospital pharmacy operations and ensure smooth day-to-day functioning.
Dispense medicines strictly as per valid prescriptions and hospital protocols.
Verify drug name, strength, dose, route, frequency and quantity before dispensing.
Maintain medicine inventory, stock registers and expiry records.
Ensure proper FEFO (First Expiry, First Out) and secure storage of medicines.
Monitor high-alert, LASA, narcotic/controlled and emergency medicines as applicable.
Maintain appropriate temperature/cold-chain records for temperature-sensitive medicines.
Monitor minimum/maximum stock levels and coordinate timely procurement and replenishment.
Identify and segregate expired, damaged or recalled medicines.
Maintain proper documentation for receiving, dispensing, returns and stock reconciliation.
Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff and administration regarding medication-related issues.
Support Medication Error, ADR and medication-safety reporting systems.
Ensure compliance with hospital infection-control,
patient-safety and NABH-related pharmacy requirements.
Participate in pharmacy audits, quality improvement activities and inspections.
Guide and supervise junior pharmacy staff.
Provide appropriate patient counselling regarding medicines, dosage, timing and precautions.
Maintain confidentiality and follow hospital policies and skilled ethics.
