Job Description – Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Manager

Position: Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Manager

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Manager with 10+ years of hands-on experience in HSD/FO storage tank fabrication, vessel fabrication, MS/CS pipeline fabrication and laying, welding, erection, testing and commissioning for Oil & Gas projects.

The candidate should have strong knowledge of oil & gas mechanical construction practices, applicable codes and standards, statutory approvals, PESO requirements and coordination with government authorities and clients.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and supervise complete mechanical construction activities at Oil & Gas project sites.
- Execute fabrication, erection and commissioning of HSD, FO and other petroleum storage tanks.
- Manage tank fabrication, bottom/annular plate, shell courses, roof, structural supports, nozzles and appurtenances.
- Supervise pressure vessel/equipment fabrication and erection as per approved drawings and applicable codes.
- Manage MS/CS pipeline fabrication, erection and laying, including above-ground and underground piping.
- Review and understand P&IDs;, GA drawings, isometric drawings, piping layouts and fabrication drawings.
- Plan and supervise pipe spool fabrication, fit-up, welding, erection, supports and alignment.
- Monitor welding activities including WPS/PQR, welder qualification, welding consumables, joint fit-up and welding inspection.
- Coordinate NDT activities such as RT, UT, DP and MPI as applicable.
- Supervise hydro testing, pneumatic testing, flushing, pressure testing and pipeline testing.
- Ensure proper inspection, documentation and quality control during fabrication and erection.
- Coordinate with QA/QC, HSE, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil and client/consultant teams.




- Prepare and monitor daily/weekly work plans, manpower requirements, material requirements and project progress.
- Manage subcontractors, fabrication teams, welders, fitters, riggers and other mechanical manpower.
- Ensure work execution as per approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs and project schedule.
- Coordinate material inspection, identification, storage and traceability of pipes, plates, valves, fittings and welding consumables.
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities of tanks, pipelines and associated mechanical systems.

Statutory Approval & Authority Coordination

The candidate should have practical knowledge of PESO and other statutory approval processes related to petroleum storage and handling facilities, including:

- PESO approval/licensing for petroleum storage tanks and related facilities.
- Understanding of applicable Petroleum Rules and statutory requirements.
- Preparation/review of documents required for PESO submissions and approvals.
- Coordination with PESO officials/authorized inspectors during inspection and approval activities.
- Coordination for inspection, testing and documentation required by relevant Oil & Gas Government authorities.
- Knowledge of statutory requirements related to tank storage, petroleum pipelines, pressure vessels and hazardous-area facilities.
- Coordination with client, consultant and statutory authorities for inspection, compliance and approval closure.

Codes & Standards – Knowledge Required

Candidate should have working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as:





- API 650 – Welded Storage Tanks
- API 620 – Large, Welded Low-Pressure Storage Tanks
- API 653 – Tank Inspection, Repair, Alteration & Reconstruction
- API 570 – Piping Inspection
- ASME Section IX – Welding Qualification
- ASME Section VIII – Pressure Vessels
- Applicable IS, ASTM, ASME and API standards
- Applicable PESO regulations and Petroleum Rules
- Relevant OISD standards/guidelines

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of tank and pipeline fabrication
- Excellent understanding of welding and fabrication processes
- Ability to read P&ID;, GA, isometric and fabrication drawings
- Knowledge of material specifications, piping components and valves
- Knowledge of NDT and inspection procedures
- Knowledge of hydrotesting and commissioning
- Strong manpower and subcontractor management skills
- Positive coordination with client, consultant and statutory authorities
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Ability to independently manage mechanical works at an Oil & Gas project site

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹75,000.00 per month
