We are setting up a new Stainless Steel Service Centre in Chennai and are looking for an experienced and hands-on Plant Head to take complete responsibility for plant operations.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in a Metal / Steel Service Centre, particularly in handling Stainless Steel (SS), Mild Steel (MS), GI, Aluminium or similar coil and sheet products.

Experience in Cut-to-Length (CTL), Slitting, coil processing and sheet processing machinery will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Take complete ownership of plant operations, production and shop-floor activities.
- Plan and manage daily production based on customer requirements and material availability.
- Manage CTL, Slitting and other coil/sheet processing machinery.
- Ensure optimum machine utilisation, productivity and material yield.
- Monitor production losses, scrap, wastage and process efficiency.
- Manage coil receiving, processing, packing, storage and finished-goods movement.
- Ensure consistent quality and minimise material rejections.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and minimise machine downtime.
- Manage production, maintenance, quality, stores and shop-floor manpower.
- Implement SOPs, safety practices, housekeeping and operational systems.
- Monitor KPIs including production, yield, wastage, downtime, rejection and dispatch efficiency.
- Coordinate with Sales, Purchase, Stores and Logistics teams.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement.
- Build and manage a disciplined, accountable and performance-oriented plant team.

Candidate Requirements

- 5–8 years of relevant experience in a Metal / Steel Service Centre.
- Mandatory:



Experience handling SS / MS / GI / Aluminium or similar coil and sheet products in a service-centre setting.
- Hands-on knowledge of coil and sheet processing operations.
- Experience with Cut-to-Length (CTL), Slitting and other coil/sheet processing machinery.
- Good understanding of material yield, wastage, production planning and shop-floor operations.
- Experience managing production teams and shop-floor manpower.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to independently manage day-to-day plant operations.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Experience in setting up or commissioning a new service centre will be an added advantage.

Important

We are specifically looking for a hands-on Plant Head with actual Metal Service Centre experience.

Candidates with only general manufacturing experience or purely administrative/managerial experience, without practical exposure to metal service-centre operations, may not be suitable.

Experience with other coil, sheet processing or finishing equipment will also be considered.

Preferred Location

Chennai and surrounding areas only.

Candidates currently based in Chennai or nearby locations who can conveniently commute to the plant will be preferred.
