About the Role:
Administers the AIX operating system layer supporting the Oracle database estate across Production, PET/PPT/DR and GNP environments (50 LPARs total), retained onshore given the continued criticality of AIX-hosted database servers.
Key Responsibilities:
- AIX OS administration for database servers
- Patching, backup and recovery for the AIX estate
- IBM vendor liaison and hardware escalation
- Storage and file-system optimization on AIX hosts
Required Skills:
- AIX 7.x administration and patch/upgrade management
- LPAR and VIOS configuration and management
- PowerHA / HACMP clustering
- IBM Power hardware and firmware management
- Backup/recovery tooling (e.g., IBM Spectrum Protect/TSM or equivalent)
- SAN multipathing and storage attach for AIX hosts
Certifications:
Mandatory
● IBM AIX system administration certification or equivalent demonstrable experience
Preferred/Advantageous
- IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert - Power Systems with AIX
- ITIL Foundation
