Business Development
Description
This is a ground-floor, high-ownership role. You'll be responsible for building Crest's domestic business from the ground up — winning government and public sector tenders through portals like GeM and CPPP, and independently generating, pursuing, and closing large deals with domestic private companies. You should be comfortable owning both the compliance-heavy discipline of government bidding and the relationship-driven grind of enterprise sales, and be willing to travel extensively across India to government offices and client sites. This is an individual-contributor role reporting into leadership, not a role that manages a team on day one.
Responsibilities
Government Tendering Responsibilities:
- Identify, track, and evaluate relevant government and PSU tender opportunities across central and state e-procurement portals (GeM, CPPP/eprocure.gov.in, and state portals such as Gujarat's), making Go/No-Go calls based on eligibility, technical fit, and commercial viability.
- Prepare and submit technical and financial bids in line with RFP/RFQ requirements, including BOQ-based pricing, EMD handling, and digital signature (DSC) execution.
- Coordinate with finance, legal, and delivery teams to arrange EMD, performance bank guarantees, board resolutions/power of attorney, and other statutory documents required for bid submission.
- Maintain and drive Crest's eligibility for government tenders — GST, PAN, MSME/Udyam registration, ISO/CMMI certifications, and empanelment with bodies such as MeitY or state IT departments where relevant.
- Own the full tender lifecycle: opportunity tracking, bid preparation and submission, responding to technical clarifications, participating in L1 evaluation or reverse auctions, and managing post-award contracting and onboarding.
- Build relationships with government department procurement officers, PSU stakeholders, and relevant OEM/system-integrator partners.
- Maintain an accurate tender pipeline and bid calendar, and report win-probability and status to leadership
Enterprise Sales Responsibilities:
- Identify, prospect, and generate leads for large domestic (non-government) companies for Crest's AI, Data, Cloud, and custom software services.
- Build relationships with CXOs and other key decision-makers at target accounts, and map Crest's capabilities to their business needs.
- Own the full sales cycle — from lead generation through solutioning (with presales/delivery support), proposal creation, commercial negotiation, and deal closure.
- Carry and consistently deliver against a new-business revenue/order-booking target for the domestic market.
- Build and maintain a disciplined, accurately forecasted sales pipeline in CRM, and report regularly on pipeline health and conversion.
- Work closely with delivery leads and presales to shape proposals, SOWs, and commercial structures for large deals.
- Represent Crest at industry events, government/industry forums, and other networking opportunities relevant to domestic business development.
Requirements
- 5+ years of B2B business development or sales experience in IT services/software, with demonstrated large-deal ("big-ticket") closing experience in the domestic Indian market.
- Hands-on,
end-to-end experience managing government/PSU tenders — GeM portal, CPPP/eprocure.gov.in, and/or state e-procurement portals — including technical and financial bid preparation.
- Working knowledge of government procurement terminology and process: EMD, performance bank guarantee, L1 evaluation, BOQ, reverse auction, and empanelment.
- Familiarity with the statutory and compliance documentation required for tender participation: GST, PAN, MSME/Udyam, ISO, CMMI, and digital signature certificates.
- Proven track record of carrying and meeting or exceeding a sales / order-booking target.
- Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills — equally credible with government procurement officers and enterprise CXOs.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across India to government offices and client sites.
- CRM proficiency and disciplined pipeline and forecast management.
- Strong written communication for proposal writing and tender documentation.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
Preferences
- An existing relationship network within government departments, PSUs, or large domestic enterprises.
- Prior experience selling AI, Data, Cloud, or custom software services specifically, rather than hardware or generic IT/staffing services.
- Direct experience with MeitY or state-level IT empanelment processes.
- Awareness of AWS or other cloud partner ecosystems — a plus, since our US partner firm is an AWS Advanced Partner, but not required for this role.
- Experience helping a primarily export-focused IT services company build out a new domestic business line.
Benefits
- Excellent Salary
- Friendly Environment
- Work-life Balance
- 5 Days Working
- Versatile Office Timings
- Employee Friendly Leave Policies
