Production Supervisor — Roles & Responsibilities

A Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of shop-floor activities, ensuring that production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and according to approved drawings, quality standards, and the production schedule.

1. Daily Production Execution

- Execute the daily production plan provided by the Production/Planning Manager.
- Allocate jobs to operators and workers.
- Ensure production activities are completed as per priority and schedule.
- Monitor progress throughout the shift.
- Escalate delays, bottlenecks, and abnormal issues immediately.

2. Shop-Floor Supervision

Supervise the complete manufacturing sequence:

Cutting → CNC → Edge Banding → Drilling → Assembly → Finishing → QC → Packing

- Ensure smooth movement of jobs between workstations.
- Monitor work-in-progress.
- Prevent unnecessary waiting and movement.
- Ensure operators follow the correct production sequence.

3. Manpower Management

- Allocate manpower according to workload.
- Monitor attendance and worker availability.
- Ensure workers are properly utilized.
- Provide instructions to operators and helpers.
- Identify skill gaps and coordinate training requirements.
- Monitor individual and team productivity.

4. Drawing & Technical Compliance

- Ensure operators work according to the latest approved production drawings.
- Check dimensions and construction details before starting production.
- Clarify technical issues with the Production Manager/Design team.
- Prevent unauthorized changes to approved designs.
- Ensure correct materials, hardware, finishes, and components are used.

5. Quality Control





- Conduct in-process quality checks.
- Check dimensions, edge finishing, drilling, assembly, alignment, and workmanship.
- Identify defects at the earliest stage.
- Separate defective/rejected items.
- Coordinate with Quality personnel for inspection.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented.

6. Production Target & Productivity

- Monitor hourly/daily production output.
- Compare actual output with planned targets.
- Identify reasons for productivity shortfalls.
- Reduce idle time and process delays.
- Improve workstation efficiency.
- Report production performance to the Production Manager.

7. Material Control

- Ensure required materials are available at the workstation.
- Verify board types, thicknesses, laminates, hardware, and accessories.
- Prevent material mixing or incorrect usage.
- Control material wastage and damage.
- Report shortages immediately to Stores/Production.

8. Machine & Tool Coordination

- Ensure operators use machines and tools correctly.
- Check basic machine readiness before production.
- Report breakdowns immediately to Maintenance.
- Coordinate machine changeovers according to production requirements.
- Ensure tools, jigs, fixtures, and measuring equipment are properly maintained.

9. Safety & 5S





- Ensure workers follow safety procedures and use required PPE.
- Monitor safe machine operation.
- Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards.
- Keep walkways and work areas explicit.
- Report unsafe conditions, accidents, and near misses.
- Conduct toolbox talks where applicable.

10. Rework & Rejection Control

- Identify the source of defects and rework.
- Ensure defective products are not passed to the next stage.
- Coordinate correction of rework items.
- Maintain records of rejection and rework.
- Escalate repeated quality problems to the Production Manager.

11. Dispatch & Project Priorities

- Prioritize production according to dispatch/site requirements.
- Ensure completed items are properly identified and moved to the next stage.
- Coordinate with QC, Packing, Stores, and Dispatch.
- Ensure project-wise furniture is not mixed.
- Communicate completion status to Planning/Production.

12. Reporting

Prepare or provide daily information on:

- Planned vs. actual production
- Manpower availability
- Production output
- Rejection/rework
- Material shortages
- Machine breakdowns
- Downtime
- WIP status
- Safety issues
- Pending production
- Reasons for delays

Key KPIs

A Production Supervisor can be evaluated on:

- Daily production target achievement
- Productivity
- First-time-right production
- Rejection and rework %
- Material wastage
- Machine downtime
- Labour utilization
- On-time completion of assigned jobs
- Safety compliance
- 5S compliance
- WIP control
- Number of production-related site complaints

Pay: ₹11,016.95 - ₹40,000.00 per month
