Script Assist – Junior QA Automation Engineer

Location: India | Remote | Full-time

Level: Junior / Associate | Typically 1–3 years experience

Skills: Playwright | TypeScript | JavaScript | Web Automation | E2E Testing

Build Real Automation for a Live UK Healthcare Platform

Script Assist is looking for a talented Junior QA Automation Engineer with hands-on experience writing coded automated tests for web applications.

This is deliberately a junior / associate-level role. It is not a Senior QA, QA Lead, or Test Lead position.

We are looking for someone early in their career who already has strong automation foundations and wants to become an exceptional automation engineer.

You should have personally written automated tests using Playwright and be comfortable coding in TypeScript or JavaScript.

You do not need to know everything already.

What matters is that you can genuinely code automation, understand what your tests are doing, debug problems, and learn quickly.

About Script Assist

Script Assist is building the operating system for next-generation private healthcare in the UK.

Our software is used by clinics, pharmacies, and healthcare operators and already supports tens of thousands of prescriptions every month.

The platform handles real production workflows across:

- Prescribing
- Pharmacy operations
- Dispensing
- Inventory
- Patient journeys
- Order management
- Clinical workflows
- Operational administration

This is not a demo environment or internal prototype.

It is production software used every day in a regulated healthcare environment where accuracy, reliability, and workflow behaviour matter.

The Role

You will join an experienced product and engineering team and write real Playwright / TypeScript automation from the beginning.

You will progressively automate increasingly complex user journeys across the Script Assist platform.

You may work on:

- Browser automation
- End-to-end testing
- Regression automation
- UI testing
- Workflow testing
- Test debugging
- Test stability
- Automation coverage
- Release validation

As your experience grows, you will take increasing ownership of more complex areas of the automation suite.

What You Will Do

- Write automated browser tests using Playwright
- Write automation code in TypeScript
- Automate real production user journeys
- Add test coverage for new features
- Maintain and improve existing automated tests
- Debug failing automation
- Investigate flaky or unreliable tests
- Write meaningful assertions
- Work with developers to understand product behaviour
- Help identify important edge cases

- Run automated tests as part of development and release workflows
- Improve test reliability
- Learn how to test increasingly complex workflows
- Contribute to improving the overall quality of the Script Assist platform

You will not spend your time simply executing manual test cases.

The role is about building and maintaining real automation code.

What You May Test

Clinic Workflows

- User onboarding
- Forms
- Structured data capture
- Patient journeys
- Scheduling
- Permissions
- Operational workflows
- Audit trails

Pharmacy Workflows

- Prescription workflows
- Dispensing flows
- Product catalogues
- Stock checks
- Inventory
- Batch and expiry handling
- Delivery
- Order reconciliation

Platform Workflows

- Multi-step user journeys
- Role-based workflows
- State changes
- Order lifecycle
- Exception paths
- Workflow validation
- Operational edge cases

You do not need previous healthcare experience.

The important thing is that you enjoy understanding how real products work and turning that understanding into reliable automated tests.

What We Are Looking For

- Approximately 1–3 years of QA, test automation, or software-testing experience
- Hands-on experience writing coded browser automation
- Real Playwright experience
- Experience using TypeScript or JavaScript
- Experience testing web applications
- Basic understanding of end-to-end testing
- Ability to explain automation you personally wrote
- Good debugging ability
- Valuable logical thinking
- Strong attention to detail
- Good spoken and written English
- Willingness to learn quickly
- Comfort working remotely
- Comfort working with UK business-hours overlap

Particularly Valuable Experience

- Playwright automation frameworks
- TypeScript automation
- JavaScript automation
- Regression testing
- E2E testing
- UI automation
- API testing
- CI/CD
- GitHub Actions
- GitLab CI
- Jenkins
- Azure DevOps
- Test data
- Test setup and teardown
- Flaky-test debugging
- Role-based testing
- Stateful workflows
- SaaS products
- B2B software
- Product-company QA
- Healthcare platforms
- Inventory platforms
- Operational software

These are advantages. They are not all required.

AI-First Engineering Culture

Script Assist operates in an AI-enabled engineering environment.

We encourage engineers to use modern AI tools intelligently for:

- Understanding requirements
- Planning test coverage
- Writing test code
- Debugging
- Improving assertions
- Investigating failures
- Learning new concepts
- Improving productivity

You do not need to come from a company where AI was already deeply embedded.

Some employers restrict the use of AI tools with production code.

What matters is that you are curious about AI, comfortable learning new tools, interested in using AI to improve your engineering work, and able to review and understand code generated with AI rather than blindly accepting it.

This Role Is Likely a Good Fit If You

- Are early in your QA automation career
- Enjoy writing code
- Have already used Playwright
- Want to become a stronger automation engineer
- Enjoy debugging
- Like understanding how products actually work
- Pay attention to edge cases
- Want exposure to complex production software
- Learn quickly
- Enjoy modern engineering tools

This Role Is Probably Not a Fit

If Your Experience Is Mainly

- Manual testing only
- Executing pre-written test cases
- Bug reporting without automation coding
- Record-and-playback testing tools
- Very simple website testing only
- Testing without writing code
- Senior QA management
- QA team leadership rather than hands-on automation

You must have personally written coded automation.

Why Script Assist

You will work on a real production platform with genuine workflow complexity.

You will gain experience across:

- Playwright
- TypeScript
- Product engineering
- Complex automation
- Healthcare technology
- SaaS
- Workflow testing
- CI/CD
- AI-enabled development
- Production software

You will have the opportunity to grow from a junior automation engineer into someone capable of owning increasingly sophisticated automated testing.

Apply

Apply if you are a Junior QA Automation Engineer, QA Engineer, Automation Test Engineer, or Junior SDET with hands-on Playwright experience and want to accelerate your automation-engineering career.
