Overview

Printing is a fundamental utility of up-to-date computing. Universal Print is Microsoft's cloud‑based print service, part of the Windows and Devices organization, that replaces traditional print servers with a secure, scalable Azure platform integrated with Microsoft 365.

As a Software Engineer on the Universal Print team, you will contribute to building and operating production cloud services used by customers around the world. You'll work closely with experienced engineers in a collaborative, startup‑style team within Microsoft, gaining hands‑on experience across the service lifecycle—from development and testing to deployment and live operation. This role provides solid learning opportunities in backend services, cloud fundamentals, and service reliability while building systems customers depend on every day.

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and maintain features for a global cloud service with guidance.
- Contribute to backend services and REST APIs using modern engineering practices.
- Write high‑quality, maintainable code and accompanying unit tests.
- Assist with monitoring service health and investigating issues in live environments.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team planning activities.
- Learn and apply security, privacy, and compliance best practices in production services.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivale
