- Overall Operations: Manage overall engineering operations, ensuring smooth, cost-effective operation and maintenance of the facility.
- Utility Management: Manage the preventive/breakdown maintenance and uninterrupted operation of critical utilities, including:
- Steam Boilers
- Chillers & Cooling Towers
- Compressed Air Systems
- HVAC Systems
- Water Systems (Purified Water/WFI)
- Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP)
- Maintenance Planning: Ensure a robust schedule for Calibration and Preventive Maintenance (PM) is created and executed strictly according to plan.
- Breakdown Response: Review critical equipment breakdowns immediately to identify root causes and initiate permanent corrective actions (CAPA) to prevent recurrence.
- Spare Parts Management: Ensure the timely availability of spares and technical requirements to facilitate swift maintenance of all equipment and instruments.
2. Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure systems and facility qualification documentation comply with regulatory audits (e.g., FDA, MHRA, ISO).
- Documentation Standards: Enforce Good Documentation Practices (GDP) across the department.
- SOP Management: Manage the creation and lifecycle of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and formats related to the engineering department.
- Validation & Qualification: Oversee and conduct routine validation tests and qualification cycles for critical systems, specifically HVAC, Water Systems, and Compressed Air Systems.
- Best Practices: Ensure Good Engineering Practices (GEP) are consistently followed in all technical activities.
3. Project Management
- Project Execution:
Manage site-specific projects and deliverables in alignment with the approved project plan.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Work closely with user departments (Production, QA, QC) to ensure engineering projects meet specific business and operational needs.
- Facility Upgrades: Suggest and implement suitable changes, modifications, or renovations required to increase productivity and ease of maintenance.
4. Energy Conservation & Cost Optimization
- Energy Management: Ensure effective implementation of Energy Conservation Measures (ECM).
- Cost Efficiency: Drive initiatives for cost savings through process improvements and modernization without compromising quality or safety.
5. Vendor & Contract Management
- Vendor Development: Identify and develop a reliable network of vendors and contractors to meet present and future engineering requirements.
- AMC Supervision: Supervise special services offered by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and manage service agencies holding Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs).
6. Health, Safety & Environment (EHS)
- Safety Leadership: Ensure strict compliance with EHS Policies and provide a protected working environment within the plant.
- Safety Practices: Ensure good safety practices are ingrained in the daily routine of the engineering team.
7. Team Leadership & Training
- Team Development: Lead the Engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Training: Identify training needs for department personnel and ensure adequate training is provided to close skill gaps.
- Audits: Participate in and lead self-inspections and internal audits to maintain department readiness.
8. General
- Handle any other responsibilities assigned by management from time to time.
