CAREERS AT ARHANTA YOGA

Content Writer - Yoga Philosophy & Sanskrit

Write accurate, accessible and practical content rooted in classical yoga sources.

Department: Content & Editorial Location: Remote - India

Employment: Full-time Reports to: Head of Marketing & Growth

About Arhanta Yoga

Founded in 2008, Arhanta Yoga is an international yoga education institute with residential ashrams in India and the Netherlands and a global Online Academy. We have trained and certified more than 24,000 yoga teachers from over 100 countries. Our work combines classical yoga, clear teaching methodology and practical application for up-to-date students.

The role

We are looking for a strong English-language writer with formal education in Sanskrit. The central responsibility is to turn classical yoga knowledge into clear, trustworthy and engaging content for an international audience - without diluting the philosophy or making unsupported claims.

You will write and improve long-form educational content, especially blogs and reference articles, and occasionally adapt core ideas for newsletters, video scripts or social content. You will work from editorial and SEO briefs, collaborate with subject experts and take full responsibility for research quality, clarity, accuracy and deadlines.

Important: This is not a generic wellness-writing role. We need someone who can understand primary concepts, verify Sanskrit and philosophical claims, and still write natural, readable English.

What you will be responsible for

1. Research and write: Create well-structured long-form blogs, guides and educational articles on classical yoga philosophy, meditation, pranayama, yogic psychology and related subjects.
2. Explain with clarity: Translate complex Sanskrit and philosophical ideas into practical English for readers who may be serious practitioners but not scholars.
3. Protect accuracy: Verify Sanskrit terms, transliteration, verse references and philosophical interpretations using reliable primary and secondary sources.
4. Work from content briefs: Follow defined search intent, target audience, structure, keywords and internal-linking guidance while keeping the writing natural and useful.
5. Refresh existing content: Review and improve older articles for factual accuracy, clarity, relevance, structure and search performance.
6. Adapt strong ideas: Turn approved long-form content into shorter educational formats such as newsletters,

social posts or video-script sections when required.
7. Maintain source discipline: Keep clear research notes and identify editions, translations and verse references so claims can be checked.
8. Collaborate and revise: Work constructively with the founder, editors, SEO specialists and the wider content team; respond to feedback without defensiveness.
9. Deliver reliably: Manage assigned work in Asana, communicate early when blocked and meet agreed deadlines.

Core subject areas Typical topics include Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, Hatha Yoga texts, yogic ethics, meditation, pranayama, the mind and emotions, chakras and the subtle body. We do not expect one person to be an expert in every text. We do expect intellectual honesty, careful research and the ability to distinguish between traditions rather than mixing them casually.

Required qualifications

1. A degree in Sanskrit or an equivalent recognised formal qualification in Sanskrit.
2. Qualified English-language writing or editing experience with published long-form work.

Two or more years is preferred, but the quality of your samples and writing test will matter more than the number of years.

3. Excellent written English, including structure, grammar, tone and the ability to edit your own work before submission.

4. The ability to read and understand Sanskrit source material and research different interpretations carefully.
5. Strong research, fact-checking and citation habits.
6. Reliability in a remote team: clear communication, organised file handling and consistent delivery without repeated follow-up.

Preferred qualifications
1. Postgraduate study in Sanskrit.
2. Additional study in Indian philosophy, yoga studies or Indology.
3. Working knowledge of Sanskrit grammar, Devanagari and IAST transliteration.

4. A recognised yoga teacher-training qualification or meaningful ashram/study experience.
5. Experience writing for an international education, yoga, publishing or wellbeing brand.

6. Familiarity with SEO briefs, WordPress and content-management workflows.

Advanced SEO is not required; the SEO team will provide direction.

This role will not suit you if
1. Your portfolio is mainly generic lifestyle, wellness or promotional copy with little evidence of serious subject research.

2. You can translate Sanskrit but cannot write fluent, engaging English for a general audience.
3. You are academically strong but unwilling to simplify and explain ideas practically.

4. You depend on AI-generated drafts or unverifiable internet summaries instead of reading, checking and thinking.
5. You need frequent reminders to complete agreed work or become defensive during editing.

What success looks like in the first 90 days
1. You consistently deliver accurate, well-researched drafts on the agreed content schedule.
2. Your work increasingly needs fewer structural, language and factual corrections.

3. Sanskrit terms, references and philosophical claims are traceable and checked.
4. You understand and reproduce Arhanta Yoga's voice: classical, practical, clear and free from exaggerated spiritual language.

5. You communicate blockers early, respond well to feedback and keep work status current in Asana.

What we offer
1. A full-time remote role with meaningful responsibility in an established international yoga-education organisation.

2. The prospect to work with experienced yoga teachers and help shape high-authority educational content.
3. Access to selected Arhanta Yoga courses for professional development.

4. Compensation based on subject expertise, writing quality and relevant experience.

How to apply Email [email protected] with the subject line: Application - Content Writer.

1. Attach your CV and list your Sanskrit degree or equivalent formal Sanskrit qualification, plus any relevant certifications.
2. Share three published English writing samples. At least one must cover yoga philosophy, Sanskrit or a closely related classical subject.
3. In no more than 250 words, explain how you would make a difficult philosophical concept accessible without oversimplifying it.
4. State your current location, notice period, current compensation and expected compensation.

Selection process: Shortlisted candidates complete a paid writing and editing exercise assessing subject accuracy, source discipline, English, structure and practical clarity. AI-generated or plagiarised work will be rejected.
