– Assistant Manager – Electrical – Pellet Plant 1

Industry: Integrated Steel Plant
Role Purpose
To ensure reliable and efficient operation of electrical systems and equipment in Pellet Plant 1 through effective preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance. The role will be responsible for minimizing equipment downtime, ensuring electrical safety, and maintaining high equipment availability.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance
- Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment across Pellet Plant 1.
- Ensure reliable operation and maintenance of HT/LT systems, motors, drives, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, PCCs, and electrical distribution systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and restore equipment within minimum possible downtime.
- Monitor health and performance of critical electrical equipment and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper maintenance of motors, cables, breakers, contactors, relays, batteries, and other electrical assets.
- Coordinate electrical maintenance activities during plant shutdowns and major overhauls.
- Maintain equipment history, maintenance records, checklists, and reports.
Drives & Automation
- Maintain and troubleshoot VFDs, soft starters, motor control systems, and associated electrical panels.
- Coordinate with Instrumentation and Operations teams for electrical/control-related issues.
- Support commissioning, modification, and installation of new electrical equipment.
Maintenance Planning & Reliability
- Prepare and monitor preventive maintenance schedules.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring electrical failures and implement corrective/preventive measures.
- Monitor electrical equipment KPIs such as availability, MTBF, and MTTR.
- Identify opportunities for energy conservation and equipment reliability improvement.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with electrical safety standards, PTW, LOTO, and statutory requirements.
- Conduct regular electrical safety inspections and ensure timely closure of observations.
- Ensure safe isolation and restoration of electrical equipment during maintenance.
- Promote safe working practices among employees and contractors.
Team & Contractor Management
- Supervise technicians, electricians, and contract manpower.
- Plan manpower deployment and monitor work quality and productivity.
- Coordinate with contractors for maintenance and project-related electrical activities.
- Provide technical guidance and on-job training to team members.
Spares & Cost Management
- Identify critical electrical spares and ensure availability.
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase for timely procurement of spares and consumables.
- Support maintenance budgeting and cost optimization initiatives.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Relevant statutory certification/competency qualification will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in electrical maintenance in a steel plant, pellet plant, power plant, cement plant, or other continuous-process industry.
- Experience in Pellet Plant electrical maintenance will be strongly preferred.
- Candidates with hands-on experience in HT/LT systems, motors, drives, MCC/PCC, and industrial electrical distribution will be preferred.
