Summary:

We are seeking an experienced RPG Developer to join our growing technology team in India. This role is part of a strategic initiative to expand RPG development capabilities and support critical legacy business applications running on the IBM i (AS/400) platform. The selected candidate will work closely with experienced US-based legacy team members to acquire domain knowledge, participate in knowledge transfer activities, and contribute to the development, maintenance, enhancement, and modernization of RPG-based applications.

Responsibilities:

- Develop, maintain, enhance, and support applications built on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Participate in structured knowledge transfer sessions with US-based RPG development teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, performance bottlenecks, and production incidents.
- Develop and maintain RPG IV, ILE RPG, CL, SQLRPGLE, and related IBM i applications.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, process flows, and support guides.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, QA teams, and global technology teams.
- Assist in application modernization and system improvement initiatives.
- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
- Support application testing, deployment, and post-production activities.

Qualifications:

- Seeking an experienced IBM i / AS400 Developer with strong expertise in RPG III/IV/RPGLE, CL, and DB2 for i.
- Must have hands-on experience with CA 2E (Synon), including Models, Functions, Action Diagrams, Relations, and Access Paths.
- Responsible for analyzing and modernizing legacy IBM i/Synon applications while preserving critical business functionality.




- Experience with application discovery, dependency mapping, business process documentation, and modernization roadmaps is required.
- Knowledge of modernization approaches including API enablement, service extraction, UI modernization, and DDS-to-SQL conversion.
- Experience with REST/SOAP APIs, IBM i web services, MQ, MuleSoft, Kafka, or API-led architecture is preferred.
- Strong production support, impact analysis, troubleshooting, and ability to distinguish Synon model-level changes from generated RPG modifications are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with SQLRPGLE and service programs.
- Exposure to application modernization initiatives on IBM i platforms.
- Knowledge of APIs, web services, and integration with modern applications.
- Experience working in a global or distributed team workplace.
- Prior experience in manufacturing, healthcare, finance, logistics, or other legacy-system-intensive industries.
