About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Node.js Developer with 5+ years of backend development experience to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Node.js, Fastify, REST APIs, GraphQL PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases.

Experience in the fintech, or other high-traffic real-time applications will be highly preferred.

The candidate should also have experience in leading a small development team, reviewing code, designing solutions, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring timely delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Node.js.
- Build high-performance REST APIs and microservices using Fastify.
- Design and optimize database schemas and queries using PostgreSQL.
- Work with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, or similar technologies.
- Develop systems capable of handling high traffic, concurrent requests, and real-time transactions.
- Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-tested code.
- Optimize application performance, database queries, API response times, and resource utilization.
- Design and implement integrations with third-party APIs and services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues and participate in incident resolution.
- Perform code reviews and enforce development best practices.
- Work closely with frontend, QA, DevOps, product, and business teams.




- Participate in system architecture and technical decision-making.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers.
- Assign tasks, track development progress, and ensure timely delivery.
- Take ownership of backend modules and deliverables.

Required Skills

Backend

- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Node.js
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript / TypeScript
- Strong experience building REST APIs
- Good hands-on experience with Fastify
- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, event loop, promises, streams, and error handling
- Experience with microservices and service-to-service communication
- Good understanding of authentication, authorization, JWT, API security, and secure coding practices

Databases

- Strong experience with PostgreSQL
- Good understanding of database design, indexing, transactions, joins, and query optimization
- Working experience with at least one NoSQL database, preferably MongoDB
- Experience with Redis is a robust advantage

System & Engineering
- Experience designing scalable and highly available backend systems
- Understanding of caching, queues, background jobs, and event-driven architecture
- Experience working with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar messaging systems is a plus




- Good understanding of Git and Git-based development workflows
- Experience working with Linux/server environments
- Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD is preferred
- Understanding of logging, monitoring, debugging, and production support

Team Handling & Leadership The candidate should have experience in:
- Managing and mentoring a team of developers
- Breaking requirements into technical tasks
- Estimating development effort and timelines
- Reviewing pull requests and maintaining code quality
- Identifying technical risks and providing solutions
- Coordinating with QA, DevOps, product, and management teams
- Taking ownership of delivery and production issues
- Helping team members troubleshoot complex technical problems

Real time application domain experience + strong Node.js backend skills + team handling experience will be a major advantage.
