We are looking for a Backend AI Engineer to join our product engineering team and help build AI-powered capabilities across our products. You will work at the intersection of backend engineering and applied AI, building production-grade features using Large Language Models (LLMs) and related technologies.

This includes conversational assistants,

AI integrations, MCP servers, agentic workflows, intelligent automation, and other LLM- powered product experiences.

This is primarily an engineering role focused on applying existing AI/LLM technologies within production products, rather than training foundation models or conducting ML research.

Responsibilities

- Design and develop backend services and APIs powering AI/LLM-based product features.
- Build conversational assistants and other LLM-powered user experiences.
- Develop agentic workflows involving tool usage, multi-step reasoning, orchestration, and external systems.
- Build and integrate Model Context Protocol (MCP)



servers and clients where appropriate.
- Integrate products with commercial and open-source LLMs and AI platforms.
- Build workflows that combine LLMs with internal APIs, databases, search systems, and third-party services.
- Implement retrieval and contextual grounding mechanisms where required.
- Develop evaluation and testing approaches for AI-powered features to measure quality, reliability, and regressions.
- Implement appropriate safeguards, error handling, fallbacks, observability, and monitoring for production AI workflows.
- Collaborate with backend engineers to incorporate AI capabilities into existing product architecture and services.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and determine their applicability to product use

cases.

Requirements

- 5–8 years of software engineering experience, with strong backend development experience.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Experience building AI agents or multi-step agentic workflows.
- Experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and building MCP servers.
- Experience designing and building REST APIs, backend services, and distributed

applications.
- Practical understanding of:
- Prompt engineering
- Tool/function calling
- Structured LLM outputs
- Context and conversation management




- Agentic workflows
- LLM orchestration
- Experience building production applications rather than only prototypes or experimentation notebooks.
- Experience working with databases and integrating backend systems with external APIs and services.
- Familiarity with asynchronous processing, queues, event-driven workflows, or similar backend patterns.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are mandatory.
- Ability to independently implement features based on product and technical specifications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across

engineering and product teams. Note: This position requires working from the office full-time
