QA Engineer — Roles & Responsibilities A QA Engineer (Quality Assurance Engineer) is responsible for implementing the organization's quality procedures at the material, production, assembly, packing, and installation stages, identifying defects, maintaining quality records, and driving corrective actions.

1. Quality Inspection & Process Control

- Perform inspections according to approved quality procedures and checklists.
- Monitor quality at each critical manufacturing stage.
- Verify that work is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Identify defects at the earliest possible stage.
- Ensure non-conforming work is controlled and not passed to the next process.

1. Incoming Material Inspection

Inspect materials such as:
- MDF/HDF/plywood/particle board
- Laminates and veneers
- Edge bands
- Hardware and fittings
- Adhesives
- Glass and accessories
- Paints/finishes
- Packaging materials
- Verify quantity, dimensions, specifications, colour, finish, and physical condition.
- Record incoming inspection results.
- Identify and segregate rejected materials.
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase for supplier-related issues.

1. In-Process Quality Inspection

Monitor key processes such as: Cutting → CNC → Edge Banding → Drilling → Assembly → Finishing

Check

- Dimensions and tolerances
- Cutting accuracy
- CNC machining
- Edge-banding quality
- Hole positions
- Joint quality
- Surface finish
- Assembly accuracy
- Hardware installation
- Alignment and functionality

1. Final Inspection

Before packing/dispatch, verify:
- Overall dimensions
- Appearance and finish
- Colour and material
- Door and drawer operation
- Hardware and accessories
- Alignment and gaps
- Surface defects
- Edge quality
- Cleanliness
- Quantity and identification




- Packing condition

Release products for packing/dispatch only after required quality checks are completed.
1. Drawing & Specification Verification

- Check products against the latest approved drawings.
- Verify dimensions and construction details.
- Ensure correct materials and hardware are used.
- Highlight discrepancies between drawings and manufactured products.
- Coordinate with Design/Drafting teams when technical clarification is required.

1. NCR & Non-Conformance Control

- Identify and record non-conforming products/processes.
- Raise NCRs where required.
- Segregate rejected or defective items.
- Coordinate corrective action with Production.
- Verify rework and re-inspect corrected items.
- Maintain NCR closure records.

1. Root Cause Analysis

Investigate recurring defects using tools such as:
- 5 Why
- Fishbone analysis
- Pareto analysis
- Corrective Action / Preventive Action

Focus on eliminating the root cause, rather than repeatedly correcting the same defect.

1. Supplier Quality

- Monitor quality of incoming materials.
- Maintain supplier rejection/defect records.
- Support supplier corrective actions.
- Provide feedback to Purchase regarding supplier performance.
- Assist in evaluating current materials and suppliers where required.

1. Site & Installation Quality

- Conduct quality inspections at project sites when required.




- Verify installation against approved drawings.
- Check alignment, level, gaps, finishing, hardware, and functionality.
- Record site defects and coordinate corrective action.
- Monitor rectification and close quality observations.

1. Quality Documentation

Maintain:
- Incoming Inspection Reports
- In-Process Inspection Reports
- Final Inspection Reports
- NCRs
- CAPA records
- Quality checklists
- Defect/rework records
- Site inspection reports
- Supplier quality records
- Calibration records where applicable

1. Measuring Equipment & Calibration

- Ensure measuring instruments are available and suitable for inspection.
- Maintain calibration records.
- Ensure expired/non-calibrated instruments are not used for critical measurements.
- Report damaged or inaccurate instruments.

1. Quality Awareness & Training

- Train operators and supervisors on quality requirements.
- Explain common defects and prevention methods.
- Conduct quality awareness sessions.
- Promote “Right First Time” manufacturing.
- Support implementation of standard work instructions.

1. Continuous Improvement

- Analyze quality data and defect trends.
- Identify recurring problems.
- Recommend process improvements.
- Support reduction of rejection, rework, wastage, and customer complaints.
- Participate in quality improvement projects.

Key KPIs A QA Engineer can be evaluated on:
- First-pass yield
- Rejection %
- Rework %
- Incoming material rejection
- Production defect rate
- Site defect rate
- NCR closure time
- Repeat-defect reduction
- Final inspection pass rate
- Customer complaint rate
- Inspection completion %
- CAPA effectiveness
- Calibration compliance

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
