ATTRIBUTES, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF TEACHERS
Attributes of Teachers
1. The teacher should be well dressed and have a pleasing personality
2. The teacher should be a performer
3. She should be creative and innovative
4. She should possess classroom management skills
5. She should have valuable communication skills
6. She should be loving and patient
7. She should be systematic, organized and is expected to follow the curriculum provided.
8. She should be a change initiator and flexible to new ideas and ways of working.
9. The teacher must be knowledgeable about child development and developmentally appropriate
practices in order to effectively interact with the children in her class.
1. The teacher should be nurturing, responsive, respectful, encouraging and genuinely interested in the
well-being and education of the children in her care.
1. The teacher should be open to learn from her colleagues, be a good team player, and work together
in the interest of the children and the school
1. A code of ethics and professionalism is expected from the teacher.
Role of a Teacher
1. The teacher should be responsible for emotional and physical well-being of each and every
child.
1. The teacher should be mindful to the needs of individual children with concerns for their
interests, handicaps, special talents, individual style, pace of learning and socio economic background.
1. She should update the Centre Head or Academic Coordinator about any significant episode
related to her class.
1. She should discuss child related issues with parents appropriately in the presence of the
Centre Head or Academic Coordinator.
1. The teacher should assist and participate in all events and celebrations / field trips organized
by the school.
1. The teacher should supervise the children during lunch break, play time, field trip, outdoor
events etc. and inculcate discipline in and out of class.
1. She should assist and greet children at welcome and departure time.
2. The teacher should maintain regular and timely communication through PTMs to strengthen
parent and school partnership.
1. The medium of instruction in the School is English; hence the teacher should communicate in
English at all times. Preparedness of a Teacher
1. The teacher should exhibit preparedness for each lesson plan i.e. read plans, attend
curriculum related workshops and seek clarification if necessary.
1. The teacher should implement the daily program / lesson plans as per curriculum.
2. She should perform daily duties i.e. attendance, child observation, lesson plan, etc.

She should manage the classroom responsibly (i.e. orderly and timely arrangement,

1. The teacher should participate in recommended training programs, staff meetings,
conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.
Dress
Code
1. The teacher is expected to be attired properly while on duty.
2. All staff members must dress appropriately. Short hemlines, deep necklines, skin tight
dresses, short length tops are strictly prohibited.
Safety
The teacher should be alert towards the following points -
1. Classroom, corridor and other areas should be free from any loose electrical wires
2. Sharp edged furniture and fittings
3. Loose or low lying board pins
4. Low height electrical sockets
5. Broken window panes
6. Be aware of the nearest fire extinguisher location and know how to use it.
7. Medical check list for students with blood group should be updated and displayed in the
classroom.
1. Van wise student record should be updated.
2. Know how to conduct evacuation from the premises during emergencies.
3. Unauthorized person should not be allowed to enter the classroom without prior permission
when children are inside. Reporting to Health & Safety Officer on identifying hazard related to:
1. Obstacles in stairways/pathways
2. Unusual event/condition in the premises
3. Electrical hazard
4. Fire hazard and any issue related to fire extinguishers
In case of emergencies such as:
Fire
1. Evacuate the students from the funroom in case of fire break out.
2. Use fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire.
3. On instruction, ensure evacuation of the students to the assembly area.
4. Take headcount of funroom students and confirm the same to Business Partner/Centre
Head.
1. Organize dispersal of students if students are sent to their homes by Pre-School
transportation.
Earthquake
1. Follow drop, hold, cover procedure for the students; else take them to the funroom corner
on feeling of the tremor.
1. On instruction, ensure evacuation of the students to the assembly area.

Take headcount of funroom students and confirm the same to the Business Partner/Centre
Head.
1. Organize dispersal of students if students are sent to their homes by Pre-School
transportation.
Medical emergencies
1. Bring it to the notice of Business Partner/Centre Head.
2. Organize first aid if required
Code of Conduct: Preschool Teachers
1. Teachers should maintain a professional attitude towards parents. Avoid any sort of personal
discussion and interaction before or after school hours.
1. Teachers are required to direct the parents to the Centre Head / Academic Coordinator with
regards to any issues / suggestion / grievance.
1. Teachers should avoid any personal discussion, meetings or gathering in the school premises.
2. Teachers should consult the Centre Head well in advance for any equipment/ resources that
may have to be arranged for, from outside.
1. Teachers should avoid any type of physical/ mental harassment and corporal punishment
towards children.
1. Teachers should abide by the safety policy norms which include Child Protection Rights,
Cybercrimes, safe usage of technology and related issues.
1. Teachers should not possess or carry any prohibited items as mentioned in the safety manual.
2. Teachers should not discriminate against any student on grounds of caste, creed, language,
place of origin, social and economic background.
1. Teachers should protect and maintain all property of the school. They should not cause any
damage to the property of the school either movable or immovable.
1. In case of any change in contact address /phone number /name during the course of her
employment, it shall be the teacher’s duty to intimate the same in writing to the management within one week from the date of such change.
1. The teacher should share her contact address & phone number during vacation/ long leave
before the commencement of the same with their Centre Head.
1. The teacher’s constant supervision is mandatory during the student’s involvement in water
play/ sand play/ outdoor play or any other curriculum related activity.
1. The teacher should avoid bringing their children to school on any working day or for any
function/ picnic or party meant for staff only.
1. The mobile phone must be on silent mode once in the school premises. Any loss of personal
belongings/ mobile phone is not the school’s responsibility.
1. Teacher should not share her personal phone number with parents. Any communication to
the parents to be done via Centre Head only. Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
