Experience: 4–5+ Years

Employment Type: Full-Time

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Power Electronics, or related field

Job SummaryWe are looking for an experienced Power Electronics & PCB Design Engineer with solid hands-on expertise in designing AC-DC power supplies, SMPS, power adapters, DC-DC converters, and PCB assemblies.

The candidate should be capable of independently taking a power electronics product from requirement analysis and circuit design through component selection, PCB design, prototype development, testing, debugging, validation, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies, SMPS, power adapters, and related power electronic circuits.
- Design power supplies across different output voltage/current and power requirements.
- Work on power supply topologies such as Flyback, Forward, Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, and other appropriate converter architectures.
- Perform transformer and magnetic component design, including selection/calculation of cores, winding parameters, inductors, and related components.
- Design input protection, rectification, filtering, switching, feedback, isolation, and output protection circuits.
- Select suitable MOSFETs, diodes, rectifiers, PWM controllers, optocouplers, capacitors, inductors, transformers, and protection components.
- Develop schematics and complete PCB layout/design for power electronics products.
- Ensure proper PCB design practices for high voltage, high current, isolation, creepage/clearance, thermal management, EMI/EMC, and signal integrity.
- Design 2-layer and multilayer PCBs based on product requirements.
- Perform component derating, power-loss calculations, efficiency optimization, and thermal analysis.
- Develop and test protection mechanisms including:
- Over-Voltage Protection (OVP)
- Over-Current Protection (OCP)
- Short-Circuit Protection (SCP)
- Over-Temperature Protection (OTP)
- Surge/Input Protection

- Perform prototype bring-up, testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and design validation.
- Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, power analyzers, LCR meters, DMMs, isolation transformers, and thermal measurement equipment.
- Troubleshoot issues related to noise, ripple, heating, switching behavior, efficiency, EMI/EMC, and component failures.
- Work closely with mechanical, embedded, firmware, testing, quality, and manufacturing teams.
- Support BOM optimization, component alternates, cost reduction, and component lifecycle management.
- Support PCB fabrication, assembly, pilot production, and mass-production troubleshooting.
- Prepare and maintain design documentation, schematics, BOMs, test reports, design calculations, and engineering change documents.

Required Technical Skills
- Minimum 4–5+ years of hands-on experience in Power Electronics / Power Supply Design.
- Strong knowledge of SMPS and AC-DC adapter design.
- Strong understanding of power semiconductor devices, switching regulators, feedback/control circuits, and magnetics.
- Hands-on experience with PCB schematic and layout design.
- Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD/Allegro, KiCad, Eagle, or equivalent.
- Good understanding of EMI/EMC design techniques.
- Knowledge of creepage, clearance, electrical isolation, grounding, and high-voltage PCB design.
- Good understanding of thermal design and component derating.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills.
- Experience taking products from concept → prototype → validation → production.

Preferred KnowledgeCandidates with experience in the following will be preferred:
- Medical-grade power supplies/adapters
- IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-1-2
- IEC/EN 62368-1 or applicable power adapter safety standards
- EMI/EMC testing and troubleshooting
- CE/BIS/UL or other product certification processes
- Low-noise power supply design for sensitive analog/electronic equipment
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT)
- Production failure analysis and reliability improvement
