About the Role

We are hiring our senior-most finance leader to own the entire finance function end-to-end and serve as the CEO’s primary co-pilot on commercial strategy, capital allocation, and business growth.

While an established Controllership & Accounts team is already in place to run day-to-day operations, you will have the mandate and budget to build WorkIndia’s Business Finance function from scratch. You will sit in every core strategic decision—pricing, unit economics, market expansion, fundraising, and board reporting—with direct authority to shape how capital is deployed across the company.

This position is explicitly structured as a CFO-Designate role , with a transparent pathway to the formal CFO title as we prepare for our IPO journey.

What You Will Own

1. Business Finance & Commercial Strategy (Build from Scratch)

- Org Building: Hire, structure, and scale WorkIndia’s dedicated Business Finance function, recruiting top-tier business partner analysts
- P&L; & Unit Economics: Partner directly with Product, Sales, Marketing, and Growth leads to own business-line P&Ls;,



CAC/LTV dynamics, monetization models, and contribution margins
- Strategic Commercial Support: Drive advanced financial modeling and scenario planning for pricing structures, commercial partnerships, sales incentives, and new market entry
- Active Performance Management: Establish the KPI and variance rhythm across all departments—giving business heads real-time visibility while holding a mandate to actively challenge and course-correct underperformance

2. Corporate Finance, Capital Strategy & Board Leadership

- Fundraising & Investor Relations: Lead equity and debt fundraising rounds alongside the Founder, taking full charge of financial storytelling, cap table strategy, data rooms, and investor engagement
- Board & Investor Representation: Act as the primary financial voice in the boardroom, delivering quarterly performance narratives and strategic capital frameworks to the Board of Directors
- Controllership & Governance Oversight: Direct the existing Controllership and Accounts team across audit, tax, statutory compliance, treasury, cash flow optimization, and internal controls
- IPO-Readiness Roadmap: Design and implement high-rigor financial systems, governance standards,



and reporting practices required for eventual public market listing

What You’ll Bring

- Education: CA and/or MBA in Finance from a top-tier institute (IIT/IIM/ISB). CS or CFA is a strong plus
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with deep exposure to Business Finance or Commercial FP&A; inside a high-growth tech startup or scale-up (B2B, SaaS, or platform marketplace experience preferred)
- 0 to 1 Capability: Proven track record of building, structuring, and leading business finance frameworks or teams from the ground up
- Capital Markets Fluency: Experience in fundraising, debt structuring, cap table management, and investor relations. Prior exposure to an IPO process is a strong plus
- Strategic Gravitas: Exceptional executive communication skills—equally comfortable diving into complex spreadsheet logic as presenting a multi-year growth narrative to a board
