Position Title: Head Optics & Optoelectronics Design Department:

Engineering –Electro-Optics & System 18 –25+ Years Reporting To: Executive Leadership (Chief Operating Officer / Managing Director)

Executive Summary & Role Objective expanding its core defense and aerospace capabilities into advancedElectro-Optics (EO) and Optoelectronics. While we possess robust mechanical,

hardwareelectronics, and software algorithm engineering capabilities, this is a foundational Greenfieldleadership role.The incumbent will be responsible for building and leading an optical design team fromscratch, setting up a state-of-the-art Optics Lab, and bridging design innovation with high-endoptical manufacturing. Leveraging an incoming acquisition of a premier Indian opticsmanufacturing firm, the Head of Optics will architect, design, and industrialize sophisticatedtactical and spaceborne EO systems for DRDO, ISRO, MoD, and global defense markets.

Role Overview

Optics & Optoelectronics Design Department to drive next-generation Electro-Optics (EO), Infrared Imaging, Space Optics, Laser Systems, and Tactical Sensor programs.

This is a Greenfield Leadership opportunity to build and lead the complete optics function, establish world-class optical design and testing capabilities, recruit and mentor high-performance engineering teams, and develop advanced defence and aerospace optical systems.

Key Responsibilities

Department & Capability Building

- Build and lead the Optics & Optoelectronics Design team.
- Recruit Optical Design Engineers, Optomechanical Engineers, Coating Specialists, and AIT Engineers.
- Establish state-of-the-art Optics Design & Testing Laboratory.




- Drive design-for-manufacturability and production readiness.

Optical System Design Lead the design and development of:
- EO/IR Surveillance Systems
- SWIR, MWIR & LWIR Thermal Imaging Systems
- Missile Seekers & Precision Guided Munition Sensors
- Head-Up Displays (HUD)
- Helmet Mounted Display Systems (HMDS)
- Optical Space Payloads & Telescopes
- Star Trackers
- Laser Range Finders (LRF)
- Laser Designators
- Optical Threat Warning Systems

Program Leadership
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Electronics, FPGA, Embedded Software and Algorithm teams.
- Interface with DRDO, ISRO, Defence Laboratories and Strategic Customers.
- Drive system architecture, design reviews and technical governance.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, CEMILAC, DGAQA and Defence Standards.

Educational Qualification

Mandatory

- B.E / B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech in:

- Optics

- Applied Physics

- Photonics

- Optoelectronics

- Electronics Engineering

Preferred
- Ph.D. in Optics / Photonics / Optical Engineering
- MBA (Strategic Leadership / Operations)
