: Finance Controller (UK & Dubai Client Engagement)

About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Controller to manage day-to-day finance and accounting operations for a client engagement covering the United Kingdom and Dubai, while based out of our India office.
This is a dedicated project role: the primary focus will be a single client group whose operations span the UK and the UAE. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and UK and UAE statutory compliance, with the ability to ensure accuracy and efficiency across financial processes and work effectively with client stakeholders in both jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
- Prepare and finalise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L;, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Ensure timely and accurate book-closing activities
- Monitor budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Handle statutory compliance across both jurisdictions, including UK VAT returns, HMRC filings and Companies House requirements, and UAE VAT / corporate tax filings with the Federal Tax Authority, alongside other applicable regulatory submissions
- Coordinate with the client’s internal and external auditors in the UK and Dubai for audit completion
- Reconcile bank statements, vendor accounts, and inter-company transactions across currencies (GBP, AED, INR), where required
- Maintain proper documentation and internal controls over financial transactions
- Assist in cash flow management and working capital monitoring across the client’s UK and Dubai operations
- Liaise with banks, vendors, HMRC, the UAE Federal Tax Authority, free zone authorities and other stakeholders as required
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP / IFRS accounting standards
- Coordinate effectively with client teams in the UK and Dubai, adjusting for time-zone overlap
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or Accounting (B.Com / M.Com); MBA Finance or semi-qualified CA / CMA preferred
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in finance and accounts
- Good understanding of finance and accounting principles, financial statements, and reporting
- Working knowledge of UK VAT, HMRC compliance, UK GAAP / IFRS, and an awareness of UAE VAT and corporate tax (or a strong willingness and ability to learn UK and UAE-specific regulations)
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar ERP systems commonly used in UK and UAE finance functions)
- Strong command of MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, financial modelling basics)
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Robust attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (for regular interaction with client stakeholders in the UK and Dubai)
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines across time zones
Preferred Attributes
- Prior experience working with UK or Middle East-based clients, KPOs, or captive finance teams
- Experience in month-end / year-end closing processes
- Exposure to audit coordination (statutory / internal)
- Familiarity with multi-currency accounting (GBP, AED, INR)
- Prior experience in a similar industry (if applicable)
