About Social Beings

Social Beings creates thoughtfully designed social events where people can meet new people, have genuine conversations and form real-world connections.

Our events may include conversation evenings, games, group activities, dinners and other small gatherings for people arriving as strangers. Our goal is to create an environment where guests feel comfortable, included and excited to participate.

We are looking for a confident, friendly and socially aware Event Host who can bring the room to life and help strangers feel like they belong.

About the Role The Event Host will be responsible for welcoming guests, setting the energy of the event, introducing people and ensuring that no participant feels ignored, uncomfortable or left out.

This is not simply an announcing or public-speaking role. You will actively observe the room, start conversations, encourage participation, handle awkward silences and help the event flow naturally.

The ideal person is warm, approachable, quick-thinking and genuinely enjoys interacting with different types of people.

Key Responsibilities

- Welcome every guest personally and help them feel comfortable from the moment they arrive.
- Introduce guests to one another and help start natural conversations.
- Explain the event format, activities and basic guidelines clearly.
- Conduct icebreakers, conversation games and small group activities when required.
- Maintain positive energy throughout the event without making the experience feel forced.
- Notice when someone is quiet, uncomfortable or being left out and gently bring them into the conversation.
- Keep conversations inclusive and prevent one person or group from dominating the room.
- Help manage transitions between introductions, activities, food,

games and open conversation.
- Handle awkward moments, disagreements or uncomfortable behaviour calmly and professionally.
- Coordinate with the Social Beings team and venue staff during the event.
- Encourage guests to participate while respecting anyone who needs time to become comfortable.
- Collect basic guest feedback after the event.
- Help ensure that the event remains secure, respectful and enjoyable for everyone.

What We Are Looking For
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- A friendly, confident and approachable personality.
- Ability to speak comfortably in front of a group.
- Strong listening skills and emotional awareness.
- Ability to understand the mood and energy of a room.
- Comfortable interacting with strangers from different backgrounds and age groups.
- Ability to make quieter or more introverted guests feel included.
- Quick-thinking and able to handle unexpected situations calmly.
- Reliable, punctual and professionally presented.
- Comfortable working during evenings and weekends.
- Fluency in English and Hindi is preferred.
- Punjabi-speaking ability will be an advantage.

You May Be a Good Fit If You Are
- Naturally good at starting and maintaining conversations.
- Often the person who introduces people in a group.
- Energetic without being overpowering.
- Confident but not attention-seeking.
- Comfortable managing groups of approximately 8–20 people.
- Able to remain warm and welcoming even when guests are initially quiet or hesitant.
- Interested in community building, social events, hospitality, psychology, theatre, public speaking or people-focused work.

Experience in event hosting, hospitality, theatre, public speaking, community management, training, teaching, customer service or social work is helpful but not mandatory. The right personality, communication ability and attitude are more important than formal qualifications.

Important Hosting Standards The host must:

- Treat every guest respectfully and equally.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
- Avoid making personal, offensive or overly intrusive comments.
- Never pressure guests to share private information or participate in an activity.
- Never flirt with, favour or exclude any participant.
- Avoid using their phone unnecessarily during the event.
- Keep guest information and conversations private.
- Immediately inform the Social Beings team about any serious concern or inappropriate behaviour.

What Success Looks Like A successful host creates an event where:
- Guests feel welcomed and included.
- Conversations begin naturally.
- The room feels lively but not chaotic.
- No guest remains isolated for a long period.
- Activities run smoothly and on time.
- Guests leave feeling that they met interesting new people.

- Your name and current occupation.
- Why you would be a good host for Social Beings.
- How you would make a room full of strangers feel comfortable.
- Your availability for evening and weekend events.
